Although the room is not big, it has a good location and a great view. It is near the north gate of the ancient city and it is very convenient to climb the city wall. (Only the North Gate and the West Gate are free to enter the city, and the Southeast Gate is the gate for the Lantern Festival.) I chose a top-floor room, and the view around the corner just happened to show the North City Gate Tower. If you have enough time, you can sit by the bed. The whole homestay is small and exquisite, which is a different experience from a hotel. The serving auntie was very serious. Breakfast was served to each person one by one. The rice noodles for adults were a little spicy, and wontons were specially made for the children. Eat well in the morning and you will be full of energy when you go out to play. You don’t have to rush for lunch, haha~

We booked 4 rooms this time, with 7 people in our group + 1 child. The rooms are very clean and each has its own character and name. There are tatami beds and double beds. A large tatami bed is specially arranged for children, so they can sleep peacefully 😁. The room is fully equipped with various disposable toiletries and an instant water kettle. I especially like the service 👍🏻. The breakfast variety is much richer than we imagined, including eggs, corn, pumpkin, sweet potato, millet porridge, minced meat noodles, small cold dishes, fruits, and they even made cakes for the children. On the first day we arrived at the B&B, the staff came to meet us and help with our luggage. It was raining, and they reminded us that there were umbrellas available at the door. I also boiled some hot water to drink. There is a big solid wooden table in the lobby on the first floor, with fruits and snacks on it. The children were very happy 😄. The inside and outside of the door are carefully decorated with green plants and hydrangeas, which is very comfortable. The geographical location is perfect for our travel, close to the main road, with parking spaces available. When we don't want to drive, we can take a taxi or stroll into the ancient city for shopping and eating. As soon as I went out, I saw the city wall. I went to see the night view on my last night! This time everyone praised the convenient location.

Shanxi, a province that left a particularly good impression on me, is full of human touch everywhere. Our first stop was Datong, where we chose Laochenggen Inn. We encountered a sudden snowstorm on the way, and arrived at the inn almost in the morning. The owner was still waiting for us and even helped us with our luggage. Because I was traveling with a dog, there were many restrictions on travel, so the New Year's Eve dinner could only be arranged at the inn. The owner warmly and thoughtfully provided the venue, and I also got to know my aunt and her family from Hebei who were living with me. In the evening, the two families made dumplings together, and during the conversation we actually found people we knew in common. It was truly an acquaintance across thousands of miles. The service, temperature, bedding and environment of the inn were all very comfortable, allowing us to spend an unforgettable New Year's Eve! Next time I come to Datong, I will choose Laochenggen again!

We chose to travel during peak hours, and there were so many people that we couldn't even get a taxi when we arrived at the ancient city. But the lady at the B&B was super nice. She rode an electric scooter to pick me up despite the traffic jam. I was so touched! Thanks again! Later they also gave us suggestions for where to eat (but the restaurant was too crowded and they refused to accommodate us). Knowing that we wanted to go out for a stroll, they gave us two bicycles for us to wander around. It must be said that staying in the ancient city is really comfortable, the pace is slow, and the atmosphere is also very good. Thank you Mr. Liang Sicheng and Mayor Geng! It’s a pity that the time I stayed there was too short. Next time when I have free time, I will definitely come during the off-season to visit the Huayan Temple, Hanging Temple, etc.!

I highly recommend Lao Chenggen's city view room, which faces the north city gate and the city wall. The views vary in the morning and evening, and the price is worth it. I also like the location of the hotel. It is not as busy and complicated as the center of the ancient city, but it is very convenient and fast. Every important attraction in the ancient city can be reached in about 10 minutes on foot. The layout of the city-viewing room is extremely elegant, and it is very suitable for relaxing, burning incense and drinking tea after coming back from an outing. The breakfast for two provided by the hotel is also quite rich and healthy, definitely better than the general breakfast outside, with wontons, hand-rolled noodles, mutton offal noodles, and different ones every day. Before leaving the store, the store manager gave each guest a bag of organic millet produced in Shanxi and asked the store clerk to move our suitcases from the third floor to the gate of the courtyard. The service was meticulous and thoughtful. The five-star service is absolutely well deserved! 👍👍

The hotel is near the North City Tower, and you can reach the city wall in two steps. It is recommended to go there in the evening to watch the sunset. It is also very convenient to take a taxi. The hotel is located in a group of antique villas, which is a quiet place in the bustling city. The room we booked had a large windowsill for making tea. It was cleaned after two days of stay. Everything was quite complete. The pillows were latex and quite comfortable. Everything was good.

The B&B is located in Renhefang, a 5-minute walk from the North City Wall. It is very suitable for climbing the city wall to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the ancient city. The B&B is very considerate to provide bicycles for guests, which are very convenient for riding to the Nine Dragon Wall and Dai Wangfu.

Inside the ancient city, the hotel's public areas are great, with a very comfortable Chinese style. You can drink tea and relax here. The store always prepares tea and snacks. The store provides bicycles🚲, which makes it very convenient to move around in the ancient city. We booked the room a little late, so we didn't get a big room. We hope to get a bigger room next time.

The north side of the ancient city is relatively secluded. It is not a courtyard house as I understand it. I lived on the third floor and the room was generally cramped. The breakfast was more than adequate for me.
