Brekke Apartments

Made a reservation at Brekke apartments with *********** in February 2023. The payment was charged to our credit card ahead of time- booking reference number- The payment was made for NOK- on the date On the day of arrival, we informed the automated messaging system that we would be arriving around 9-10 pm based on our travel time. Terrible and unprofessional experience at check-in We received the following instructions from the Brekke apartment reception. When we arrived at 10.05 pm at Brekke apartment, there was a guest list with our name written on it. The apartment allotted to us was a “hillside house-basement apartment” with no house number, no directions and no contact number to get there. There were approximately 8-10 houses around the reception area. We looked at each of those to determine which one was allotted to us. We called the receptionist number as in the above picture; but it kept going to voicemail. Finally, at 10.40 pm, we approached the residents in the hostel who provided us with the handphone number to call. When we called, two ladies came out to help us from another house. They drove the van and asked us to follow them. We travelled on the road quite some distance from the reception to our allotted apartment. Once there, we thanked them for helping us. We also were confused as to how we were to find our apartment. Hence, we asked those two ladies if the norm here was for the guests to figure out a way by themselves. The lady told us the receptionist should have given us detailed instructions with pictures. We told her we did not receive any pictures. The actual accommodation was at a distance from the property address given on ***********. We reached the exact address as per on *********** as attached here from the website of ***********. Brekke Apartments, Flåm – Updated 2023 Prices (***********) However, we were given the accommodation as below. Up to 25% off - Flåm holiday home - mountain view - 1 km from Flåm, Aurland (lodging-world.com) Despite showing proof of our booking at Brekke apartments, this lady boss kept claiming that the address at 50, Fretheimshaugane was indeed Brekke apartments. After this, we entered the apartment; since we had paid for three guests, we expected to see 3 beds available to us. Instead, there were 2 beds and a sofa bed (which was not prepared to sleep on against the information mentioned in the message above) For two beds, the bedsheets and linen were just laid out on the bed as if in a hostel. We had to request linen and a towel for the third guest. Isn’t it normal for hotels to arrange based on the number of people since they charge accordingly? In the end we made up our own beds. We were clearly unhappy & disappointed with the reception and check-in process, and rightfully so. At this point, we expressed our disappointment and wish to escalate this matter to authorities. Here one of the ladies claimed that she was the owner and she was upset with her receptionist. The Lady boss

Finally, at 10.40 pm, we went to the hostel and knocked on one door to find out if anyone could help us find the place or at least a number to call. A lovely couple ( guests staying in the hostel) helped us with a phone number to call on, and when we called, two ladies came out to help us from another house. They drove the van and asked us to follow them. We travelled on the road quite some distance from the reception to locate our allotted apartment. Once there, we thanked them for helping us. The Lady boss claimed that she would fire the receptionist. On this point, we explained to her our reasons for disappointment, which were fair. Her attitude appeared callous to our situation; she spoke in a rude tone and called us rude, which was uncalled for, knowing that we had been out in the 10 degrees Celsius temperature, raining weather, looking for our apartment for 45 mins because of lapses of her staff. This was a one night stay for 5 of us. We had everything we needed, it was very clean and comfortable, and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. The views are amazing, its a wonderful way to start the day! I'd stay here again!

Wonderful, cozy apartment in a beautiful , scenic location. The apartment is located just a short walk from the center of Flåm, so you have easy access to all the shops, restaurants, and attractions that the town has to offer.

Despite the bad reviews, we found this apartment nice and cozy. Just in the center of Flam, the apartment has two bedrooms, a well equipped bathroom and a dining room with a sofia bed and a kitchen. The reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that they made us walk to the reception wich is 1.5 km far, just to discover that our apartment was in the city center.

We stayed here one night while traveling through Flam and it turned out to be a good choice. (There wasn't much else available in Flam by the time we booked.) At first we were a little worried because it seemed to be a little far out from the main part of town but it only a 10 minute walk (not bad even with luggage) and it turned out to be a better location than we realized as it was quite peaceful. One side of the building faced the beautiful waterfall and there were benches and picnic tables to sit outside and enjoy the idyllic setting. We had a studio apartment with a pull out couch and table, 2 twin beds, a bathroom and a kitchenette. It wasn’t a lot of space, especially for four people with luggage, but it was okay for our one night stay. The sofa bed wasn’t quite level so we ended up sleeping across. Not the most comfortable bed for two but we managed. (Would not have wanted to sleep on it multiple nights though.) There was a little confusion at check in and we didn't have enough bedding but the person who checked us in was friendly enough. We had to clean before we left. We took the opportunity to go to BrekkeFossen, a nearby waterfall hike with an absolutely gorgeous panoramic view when you get to the waterfall. It was our first hike since arriving in Norway, and it left us a little breathless at times, but the stairs made it easy to ascend and descend.it was well worth it and it was great to have it so close to our lodging. Wi-Fi worked well and staff was helpful. Overall we were happy with our stay here.
