The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong

An absolutely perfect stay, with outstanding service and facilities. Our room boasted stunning harbor views, perfect for watching the sunset, and breakfast offered a magnificent panorama of Victoria Harbour. The service and overall experience are truly first-class in Hong Kong. The hotel's pool and spa facilities are exceptionally good; I'd definitely love to experience them again on my next visit. We even received a lovely little lion souvenir. The only minor drawback was the poor soundproofing of the room doors; corridor noises were very audible. Fortunately, there wasn't much foot traffic in the hallway, so it was generally quiet. However, the hotel really ought to consider improving the soundproofing in the future. Additionally, the beautiful view would unfortunately be obscured if it rains or if the sky is cloudy.

For my second visit to Hong Kong, I once again chose to stay at The Ritz-Carlton. My first two days unfortunately coincided with Hong Kong's black rainstorm. The hotel's restaurant, Tin Lung Heen, offered a wonderful ambiance, and I was extremely satisfied with the entire dining experience there. The hotel's service, particularly its attention to detail, was outstanding overall. The breakfast setting was also very pleasant.

Review from a 10-year hotel industry veteran - The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong: **Pros:** 1. Located in Tsim Sha Tsui's tallest building, the location is excellent. 2. The high-floor experience was a highlight. 3. The concierge on the ground floor proactively took my luggage and delivered it to the guest room. **Cons:** 1. The pillows in the room were very uncomfortable. There was no in-room guide or staff to provide an orientation. 2. Staff at the transfer elevators were scarce, and those present seemed to show preferential attentiveness to foreign guests. 3. I booked a sea-view room, but the view was not facing Hong Kong Island, and the windows were quite dirty! 4. Due to the disappointing experience, I booked the W Hotel next door for the second night and checked out of The Ritz at 11 AM. Later that evening, at the W Hotel, I realized I had left a suit jacket behind in my room at The Ritz. No one from The Ritz-Carlton proactively contacted me to ask if it was lost or if I had intentionally left it. 5. That evening, at 10:10 PM, I proactively contacted The Ritz-Carlton. The front desk agent instructed me to pick up the item at the front desk, assuring me it would be placed there for my convenience. However, upon arriving at the front desk at 10:20 PM, the suit was not there. I then had to wait another 15-20 minutes in the hotel lobby on the 103rd floor. 6. Around 10:40 PM - 10:45 PM, after my suit was finally brought to me, I asked the gentleman at the front desk, 'Why doesn't the hotel proactively contact guests who leave items behind in their rooms?' The hotel's reply was, 'The Ritz-Carlton never proactively contacts guests because we don't know if the items were intentionally left behind.' (This conversation was not directed at the gentleman personally, but the hotel's actions and the responses and demeanor of both the lady and the gentleman at the front desk clearly demonstrated that The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong never proactively contacts guests.) **Background:** As a frequent business traveler, I often stay at hotels like Marriott, Sheraton, EDITION, and W. My experiences, whether at The Londoner in Macau or Atour hotels in mainland China, have consistently been better than this stay at The Ritz-Carlton. **Summary:** Fundamentally, the hotel industry is a service business; top-notch hardware facilities are not the ultimate deciding factor. The true essence of this industry lies in its 'human touch,' and that 'touch' is entirely dependent on the service provided. This is especially true for a luxury-tier brand like The Ritz-Carlton! This experience was exceptionally poor, and The Ritz has certainly failed to live up to its distinguished reputation!
