"The room was very clean and wonderfully warm when I visited in winter, with the heating on 24/7. It's right in the heart of Banff town center, making shopping and dining incredibly convenient. There's a parking lot next door, which is also where some airport shuttle pick-up/drop-off points are located. I was dropped off right at the hotel parking lot by my airport shuttle and picked up from the same spot for my return flight, which was super convenient."

"It was my first time traveling solo and I stayed in samesun. The hostel was really nice and they have free breakfast that comes with your booking so whether or not you need food in the morning, it’s available until 10am. Plus the staff are friendly and helpful. Would come back to banff and still choose samesun."

"We booked a twin room with two queen-sized beds, which was more than enough space for four of us. The room had a hairdryer, iron, microwave, safe, and kettle, but no refrigerator. Slippers, toothpaste, and toothbrushes weren't provided, and I'm not sure if they're available upon request for free. Breakfast and laundry services both incur additional charges. This hotel seems to be one of the more popular options in this small town, which isn't very big, just a few streets lined with buildings. Right outside the hotel, you'll find various restaurants; while there aren't many, they offer a good range of cuisines. There's a medium-sized supermarket not too far away, stocked with fresh produce, fruits, vegetables, dairy, bread, sandwiches, eggs, yogurt, milk, and deli items. Many tourists frequent it, and their self-made thick soups are delicious and affordable. The hotel parking is paid and requires your room key to access. There's a hose in the parking lot for self-car washing, but I didn't use it as I opted to wash my car at a gas station instead."

"Pros: Extremely good location. They have an attached restaurant and cafe right next to the hotel. Very clean facilities. Rooms spacious and has nice views of the town. "There was a free bus in front of the hotel, and it was easy to get to downtown Banff, and it was quiet, so it was nice. If I had time, I would have gone swimming, but it was a good place to stay comfortably."

"Got delayed in Vancouver and booked this last minute, so it was a leftover room, and a bit pricey. But it turned out to be a one-bedroom suite with a living room and a balcony, which was great. The room was really quiet. They have a self-service ice machine on the 2nd floor and a small hot spring bath on the 1st, both nice touches. Overall, it was good.

The bakery I was looking for was within a minute's walk. It was convenient for me to go buy lunch when I was on a tour that didn't include lunch.
The staff were friendly and the facilities were good. However, since it was a hotel in the city, the only view I could see from the window was of the parking lot."

"The hotel facilities are quite new, the environment is beautiful, and getting around is very convenient. The town's bus stop is right in front of the hotel, and you can ride the town's public transportation for free. The restaurant on the first floor of the hotel is highly recommended – it's fantastic! "It is a pleasant hotel with regular amenities. The beds are comfortable and the view out the windows is spectacular towards the Bow River. Unfortunately there was a shouting match between a couple from 1am-3:40am the second night as the walls do not muffle the sound as well as we would have liked. So very tired the next day or so, but the front desk said they have security on 24 hours and we should have called. Some of the items in the rooms are quaint and that's ok - they are small rooms, but we spent most of our time out in Banff or skiing, Overall they worked out."

GGuest UserOverall pretty good, underground parking was rough with little space an terrible parkers. Unfortunately there’s nothing the hotel could do about people’s driving skills. I would recommend this hotel but get back early and walk if you can if you’d like to have a spot for your vehicle.

AAnjingTracySurprising cabin, we had a pleasant 2 nights here. The room was clean and tidy, the kitchen and living room were together, the bedroom was bigger than expected, and the bedding was very comfortable. There is heating, the fireplace can also be used, we asked the staff to help us make the fire. There are microwave ovens and induction cookers, simple kitchen utensils, we went to the supermarket to buy ingredients and made dinner by ourselves. In the evening, there was a deer eating grass on the lawn downstairs. The hotel has its own soup pool, which is very small, we are too tired to go soak. The staff is very welcoming and the old-fashioned door lock is not very easy to use.

FFianee ChanI recently traveled to Banff with six friends and stayed in a family room at the Moxy Hotel. Overall, it was a great experience! The room was spacious, with a youthful and vibrant design, perfect for friends or small groups. The atmosphere was great! 👍
However, one minor drawback was the lack of a door lock in the bathroom, which might be slightly inconvenient for larger groups. I hope the hotel can improve this in the future.
Overall, it was a pleasant stay and I would recommend it to anyone traveling with friends!

HH T (Jakarta)On March 19th 2026 at noon, I called the hotel and spoke with a lady who seemed to be the manager.
I told her that I couldn’t drive to Banff from Kamloops because of the road closure on Trans-Canada Highway 1 and Highway 93 due to the bad weather—heavy snow, a force majeure situation, Mother Nature herself!
That lady didn’t want to cancel my reservation and give me a full refund. I asked her which road I should take, but she couldn’t answer.
I had to take alternate roads to Jasper, Hinton, Evansvurg, Drayton Valley, Rocky Mountain House, Sundre, Cochrane, and finally arrived at the hotel around 2 a.m.
That lady really should have not been working at the hotel.

GGuest UserThe room was really clean and the bed was comfortable. Wasn’t happy about the Spa as the sauna was not hot enough and the dial to increase the temperature didn’t work. The whirlpool was a nice temperature. The restaurant at the hotel was giving smaller portions but charging high prices. I ordered a large salad for dinner and got something comparable to a small salad. The waiter was impatient as he wanted to run over with the payment machine as soon as I had finished my salad and tea.

GGuest UserWe stayed at Royal Canadian Lodge in Banff from March 26–29 with my 7-year-old daughter, and overall we had a great experience.
Check-in was simple and straightforward. We arrived in the early evening, and Jason at the front desk was the most approachable and helpful hotel staff member I have ever dealt with. He remembered my daughter’s name, greeted her every day, checked in with us throughout our stay, and added little touches that made the trip feel extra special for both of us.
The renovated room itself was fairly standard for a hotel room, but comfortable. Our room had two queen beds, which worked well for us. The bathroom had a shower only, with no bathtub, but that was not an issue. The pillows were big and lumpy, all 8 of the pillows in our room were too high/tall for my daughter to use comfortably. There are robes provided in the room, it would be a nice touch if they could also provide kids size robes. We had a mini fridge, coffee maker with coffee, and kettle with tea provided in the room.
We ordered room service one night and tried the pulled pork poutine, which was the daily special from the restaurant. Unfortunately, it was not very good, and I would not recommend it.
The TV included free cable and on-demand programming, as well as pay-per-view movies. I had brought my laptop and an HDMI cord, and we were able to connect it to the TV easily to watch our own movies. Watching on-demand, my daughter discovered The Simpsons and loved it (lol)
The pool area was a big highlight for us. The pool is salt water rather than chlorine. The water itself was on the cooler side, but there was also a good-sized hot tub and a large steam room. My daughter quickly made friends with another family staying at the hotel, and the kids spent multiple hours a day in the pool together.
The gym was small but functional. In the four days we were there, it was empty every time we walked by.
Parking is $20 per day, which does add up. There is also free street parking behind the hotel if you are able to find a spot.
One fun feature in the lobby was the robot, which the kids absolutely loved. We were told that after construction is complete, it will be delivering items to guest rooms. During our stay it moved around the lobby, told jokes, and handed out free apples.
The hotel was reasonably priced compared with other options in the area. I chose it specifically for the pool setup, knowing we would be spending a lot of time there, and it worked out really well for that. Shops and restaurants on the main street were about a 10-minute walk away, or you could take the bus that stops outside the neighboring hotel for $2 per ride, with kids riding free.
I would definitely stay here again in the future. The price, location, rooms, and pool make this a very family-friendly hotel option in Banff.

GGuest UserHotels in Banff in July were incredibly expensive. A decent hotel cost around 3,000+, which was beyond my means. Although I was initially hesitant to stay in a hostel-like hotel, I took the plunge and it turned out quite well. It's a bonus to have a roommate who doesn't snore.
Pros: Laundry, a kitchen, and a common area are all available, meeting basic needs. Cooking your own meals is fun and saves money.
Cons: Showering is inconvenient.
