"Booked hotel in advance for a sister milestone birthday trip. Location was on main strip so that was good; however, was a little ways out so not easy to walk. Thought it was closer to central downtown. Called and requested an early check in and was told the room would be ready at 1pm. Showed up just before 4 and there was a line up to register because the rooms hadn't been released yet. Hotel is quite old and run down. It smelled wet and musty. The room was quite dirty (stuff on the carpet, dust on appliances and very dirty on top of valance. In need of a major overhaul. We were expecting it to be very noisy at night based on noise experience in the afternoon; however, it was very quiet - which was a pleasant surprise. Was recommended we have breakfast at sister hotel down the street (Royal Canadian Lodge) and that was a debacle. Will not go back there. Adrian at the check in desk was very professional, calm and apologetic. He WAS the saving grace of the stay. Two thumbs up and 5 stars for Adrian. The hotel itself...not so much - likely won't be back."

"This hotel is currently undergoing renovations, and the smell of the construction work was noticeable coming through the central air conditioning. The washing machine was incredibly dirty and coin-operated. Despite this, I really needed to do some laundry during my trip, so I spent a long time scrubbing both the washing machine and dryer. It was clear these machines had never been properly cleaned, and the amount of grime I wiped off was truly disgusting."

"Easy check in and check out. Simply download their mobile app to receive a virtual key to your room, or check in in person at the Banff Caribou Hotel and Spa. When checking out, just dial "0" to the front desk, leave the card in the room and you're good to go :) The room has been renovated and is clean and modern. They have microwave, mini fridge and kettle. You can also take away their mug as a souvenir for free. In the bathroom, they offer Rocky Mountain Soap Company products that are handmade and vegan. If you like them, you can go to their stores in Canmore or Banff, or order directly online."
