Komandoo Island Resort & Spa

Not much to say except that everything is magnificent. The welcome, the friendliness of the staff, the food (very wide choice, varied and excellent), the very cosy bungalow with a Maldivian bathroom, the upkeep and cleanliness of the island, the snorkelling, the massages, the peace and quiet, the very good cocktails (a little expensive à la carte between $16 and $18) but still 2 or 3 different suggestions every day for less than $10. In short, an idyllic holiday that we're looking forward to repeating.

First visit to Komandoo and overall we ( wife , daughter and myself) had a very relaxed and enjoyable holiday, largely contributed to by the friendliness and efficiency of all the staff. The rooms ( Coral ) were pleasant , reasonable size and comfortable with well stocked fridges. Maybe, a bit tired looking and had several problems with one of the door locks till replaced. Second week in water villas – sizeable well equipped rooms with plenty of loungers but last four/five steps into lagoon were very slippery – in fact dangerous and had to go down steps on backside! Food was a high standard throughout all meals with wide selection and themed nights were enjoyable. Aqua restaurant which we used twice was very good and 5.8, the underwater restaurant was excellent. Staff in restaurants from chefs to servers were all excellent , very friendly and helpful. Slightly longer opening hours at lunch and dinner would have been better. Bars- staff at both bars very friendly and particularly enjoyed the Thundi Bar. Various entertainment in the evenings which was enjoyable. The “All inclusive drinks” package was very extensive and only a few times had to pay extra for “ premium drinks”. Gym was well equipped and actually used by us on a few occasions! Spa was very pleasant and provided good range of trea**ents but would have been better with a more consistent pricing policy which seemed to vary every day. I am sure they would get more customers if they reduced all the prices by 20% rather than trying to persuade you to buy additional trea**ents at “ special prices” The best reef area for access and viewing was off the watersports beach which also had the best accessibility. Very low tides on the other side often made it difficult to swim out to the reef. Fish, turtles and sharks were reasonably plentiful . Felt that there should be better deals in providing snorkelling equipment- this is the first Maldivian hotel where we have had to pay for the snorkelling equipment ( cost us over $300 ). Wife and daughter each enjoyed 5 dives and we also went on a turtle and reef snorkel from Watersports which was excellent. The beach was attractive and regularly cleaned with plenty of bins available for the plastic waste regularly washed up onto the shore line. In summary we had a great holiday with thanks to all the staff who made it such a great experience .

Stunning, 5 star food and the best staff we have ever met This really is pure luxury in every way on one tiny island The staff are like a family and make this resort The food from the Buffett and the restaurant is outstanding Accommodation is beautiful and you want for nothing The beach, sea and snorkelling is paradise Cocktails are brilliant Peaceful, stunning, luxury and the friendliest team ever We will be back !

Komandoo resort was an absolute paradise, not spoiled by rude Russians or rich Asians who treat staff like 2nd hand citizens! The high majority of guests ware Europeans Very quiet, exceptional service and variety of food was amazing. ( if you look for a more active/party place, this is not the case here ) All inclusive package makes sense as all extras are quite expensive like every ware in Maldives, for 6.5k€/2 persons including flights, all inclusive package, transfers, was quite a good deal. Download the resort app, there you will find all packages explained , prices, activities , etc, so you can choose the right thing for you Premium bungalows are exactly the same as the rest, the only BIG difference is the location on the island, right at sunrise, the lagoon is quite big with perfect water, the rest are on the opposite side at sunset where the lagoon is very small and you look at a locals island near by, not the prettiest of sights. You will find out very fast, lots of the guests are returning customers, for such a small island this says a lot. Age average I will say is 50+ years old, this might not be ideal for all 2 dives pack is around 250$ , 15l tanks or Nitrox is extra cost like it is the cases with everything extra you might ask BUT, it is fantastic and the instructors, Kevin and Adi are absolutely fantastic ( I only dived with the 2 of them ) You can take kayaks ( included in AI packs ) but are allowed only in the lagoon, after 10 mine, it’s already getting boring Spa and massages are very expensive, prices can be found in the app, almost nobody uses them, I do not get the point of they’re strategy, preferring to keep the spa empty vs customers satisfaction Bars and in room ones are very well organized and stocked.
