Hotels in Dianchi Lake Scenic Area/ Sunac World, Kunming

It was a very pleasant surprise to book this place. The low-key and wealthy boss built his dream house. The homestay has seven rooms in total, which should be the most tasteful house in this villa area. The room facilities are also good. The bedding and pillows are very comfortable. The afternoon tea, welcome fruit, breakfast and mini bar are of high quality, and the price-performance ratio is very high. The homestay has a design, and the rest depends on the service. The housekeeper is a Sichuan girl who stayed in Kunming after college because she liked the climate. She was gentle and attentive. She asked the size in advance and prepared old Beijing cloth shoes. She was kind and neat, making people feel at home. It was very nice. This location is not far from the center of the old city. It is very close to Haigeng Dam. There are Wolong Ancient Fishing Village and Laoyu River Wetland Park to the south. It takes more than half an hour to drive to Haiyan Village. You can play all the way there, watch the sunset and have a meal, and you can go to Dounan to buy flowers on the way back. You can play for a whole day.

The hotel is located on the bank of Dianchi Lake. The appearance of the villa and the overall decoration in black and white tones collide to show high-end and fashion. The moment you step into the hotel, you can feel the service full of ritual. When checking in, the staff brought hot water and Yunnan specialty flower cakes. All the processes were smooth and professional. The hotel exudes high-end atmosphere from inside to outside. I really love the fireplace decoration in the lobby and the room. It is beyond taking pictures! The room is equipped with Dyson hair dryers and electric toilets.. Every detail and hardware facilities can be seen to have made great efforts. The degree of care is full marks. Afternoon tea and breakfast can be enjoyed when you check in. I give full marks for the taste. The latte art is also very beautiful. By the way! There is also a free cocktail appreciation in the evening. You can drink while watching a movie. It is really comfortable~. When you leave the hotel, the staff will send you a souvenir. It contains Bulgari hand cream, which is very touching. It is just right for the winter. The stay experience is excellent. Everything is worth it. I strongly recommend it to everyone! ! !

The room was spotless and well-equipped with all necessary amenities. Daguanyuan Park is directly opposite the hotel, offering great convenience for sightseeing. Upon arrival, children's essentials and fresh fruit were already provided in the room. The hotel offers a wide array of room types, including family-friendly options with flexible bed arrangements and quiet rooms ideal for elderly guests seeking a peaceful rest. All rooms are consistently quiet and generously sized. The hotel boasts three outdoor hot spring pools, perfectly sized for family relaxation and enjoyment. What truly stood out was the unparalleled service – hands down the best we've encountered during our stay. The front desk team was incredibly friendly and eager to help, always going the extra mile to resolve any guest concerns. While the restaurant isn't huge, the breakfast spread is incredibly comprehensive, offering something for everyone. Lunch is also available to order, with dishes that are both light and delicious. On our first day, we received a complimentary light meal that was just as excellent as anything on the menu – truly exceptional value. We'll definitely make this our top choice when we return to Kunming. A perfect 100%!

Excellent stay at the Intercontinental in Kunming. The location is near the lake and a bit further out from the city centre but taxis are convenient. Very good value with spacious and clean rooms. It's a very big hotel with great facilities, including an indoor pool, 24h gym, large garden, bar and restaurants. Service was fantastic throughout our stay, and the front desk (Xiao Fu) helped with various queries promptly and also upgraded our room at check-in. Highly recommended.

An absolutely amazing resort hotel just steps away from the beautiful lake! Our stay was nothing short of perfect. We had a spacious and comfortable room with a super large balcony, offering breathtaking views that made our mornings extra special. The hotel’s interior design and facilities were top-notch, exuding elegance and comfort. From the well-maintained amenities to the thoughtfully designed spaces, every detail added to the luxurious experience. Breakfast was delicious, with a great variety of options to start the day right. But what truly set this hotel apart was the warm and friendly staff. Their hospitality made us feel welcome and well cared for throughout our stay. We loved every moment and can’t wait to return in the near future! Highly recommended! 🌿✨

I loved the floor-to-ceiling windows in my room. The handwritten note left by the staff in the room was a very special touch – it's been ages since I received a handwritten message! The room was impeccably clean and tidy every single day, truly deserving a five-star rating. I also adored the little heart shape the staff thoughtfully arranged on the bed. The thoughtful service from the front desk staff was excellent. I even connected with them on WeChat during check-in, and they responded promptly to all my questions and issues throughout my stay. I really appreciated the smart design of the elevators: after scanning your room card, it automatically selects your floor. In most other hotels, you have to scan your card *and then* manually press your floor button, so this Novotel is the first one I've encountered with such a convenient system. And a tip: remember to look up at the ceiling when you're in the elevator – there's a pleasant surprise waiting for you! Another thoughtful detail was the complimentary bottled water available for guests to take in the elevator lobbies on each floor and right next to the front desk. It's super handy, especially since I often forget to bring water when I head out. What I didn't like were the two large display screens at the front desk. They created an unnecessary barrier between myself and the staff, which felt a bit impersonal during what should have been warm, face-to-face interactions. Finally, thank you for the small gift we received at check-out. I haven't opened it yet, but I'm guessing it's a flower pastry. It would have been even better if it had been given to us a bit earlier, perhaps before I finished packing my luggage, so I wouldn't have had an extra item to juggle on the high-speed train.

I was really satisfied. The hotel is very unique, simple and natural, and the surrounding environment is also very good. The owner is very enthusiastic in service. The breakfast is also very delicious. There were a lot of guests at that time, and the kitchen was a little overwhelmed, but they were still very enthusiastic and provided simple meals, noodles, rice noodles and dumplings. The whole hotel is in a large park, and the park has not been repaired yet. The hotel is very quiet. The children only complained that they didn't stay long enough and wanted to stay another day.

The hotel is brand new and exceptionally well-equipped. The front desk staff, Jinli and Jinsuo, were incredibly warm and thoughtful. The in-room smart features are highly advanced, minimizing the need for manual operation. The shower pressure was perfect, making for a truly relaxing experience. The hotel's amenities are excellent; the toothpaste, toothbrush, and slippers are both eco-friendly and comfortable, making them items you'll appreciate keeping or reusing. The bedding is also very comfortable, and the blackout curtains provide excellent light blocking. While the overall soundproofing is good, we did notice some louder sounds now and then. All in all, it's a great hotel, perfect for both leisure vacations and family getaways.

We are Americans from Hong Kong and traveled to Kunming for our Easter holiday. The positives of this hotel: 1. it was beautiful. The design and furnishings were very well done and the room itself was exceptionally clean. 2. The owners were so kind. We arrived way after the tea time hour, but they still provided our family with cappuccinos and fresh fruit, free of charge. Both were delicious and our children were so excited about the gourmet coffee art. 3. The mattress in the main bed area was very comfortable. Not a typical “hard” mattress like many hotels in China. Another bonus: it was actually a KING size, which we rarely see outside the US! 4. The breakfast was Chinese style and the rice noodles were delicious! The hotel also had a beautiful courtyard area to eat outside. A few items to be aware of: 1. although the hotel was in a neighborhood near the lake, the neighborhood itself was a bit strange. We could tell it was meant to be a beautiful, well-to-do neighborhood of modern villas, but more than half the neighborhood was unused and/or under construction so it wasn’t as lively feeling in the evening because it was so dark and desolate seeming. It was beautiful in the daylight though! 2. This is not a big hotel chain, just an independent boutique style hotel operating in one of these villas. 3. There are no optimal eating spots near the hotel. You have to take a 20-30 minute Didi (taxi) ride to the nearest area with a lot of restaurants. However, if you like street food, there is a street food carnival area about 10 minutes away via walking (walk north along boardwalk bordering the lake.) Overall, because of the kindness of the owners, the cleanliness and modernity, delicious breakfast, and comfortable mattress, we would definitely choose this hotel again for a one-night stopover.

The hotel has a mix of old and newly renovated rooms. The old rooms are really worn down as we were stay in the older rooms for the first night. We were upgraded to the newer ones for the second and third night thanks to the hotel management. New room are fitted with smart technology and amenities were complete in the room and all other facilities were working fine. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Surrounding area is nice, especially hotel backyard with beautiful scenery from every corner of the hotel room facing a clean lake. Fantastic location within walking distance to the big Dianchi Lake & Yunan Nationalist Villages & easy access to the famous Western Hill. It was great spending 3 days there.
