We arrived to Anguilla excited about our stay only to have zero communication from the owner regarding how to access our Villa until 1.5 hours had surpassed our check in time. Once we were contacted we were advised that we would be staying at Poinsettia and that it had been left unlocked for our arrival. Upon arrival at poinsettia we found the Villa was already in use. Eventually we were given directions to the appropriate Villa, now over two hours past our allowed check in time. That was also locked. About 15mins later house cleaning attended and let us in and also continued cleaning the Villa as it had not been made ready for our arrival. We sat and waited on the couch. Things happen sometimes, all good. After house cleaning left we did a walk through of our room. The First thing we found was a very large clump Of hair near the shower. Gross. Next it was the used and broken soap bar still in the shower on top of completely empty soap dispensers. The toilet flushed half the time and usually only when we took the lid off and manually reset it. I pulled down the top sheet on the bed to find old blood stains, not huge in size but I mean it should not be there at all and I found a smelly over used dish sponge in the kitchen sink. We expressed our concerns, it was now around 730pm. We had not eaten yet and based on what we read most restaurant kitchens close at 9pm. The owner told us she was coming over, no time frame had been provided. We told her that we were heading out to eat before restaurants closed and asked if clean sheets could just be left outside our door for us to replace when we got back. No response. We came back to the room at around 915pm to find that someone had been inside. The hair and soap had been removed. No new sheets. We asked what the status was on the sheets and we’re told that no one could get a hold of us on the phone. We only use WhatsApp when travelling, this was clearly articulated to the owner and her daughter who runs their Airbnb site. Either way we were not getting new sheets. We were of course not pleased. The solution from Indigo? We were asked to be out of the Villa by 1030pm and to find a place that was more to our liking. If you’ve never been to Anguilla before, it’s not exactly an island where you can just find a place to stay at 1030 at night, there are no Holiday inn type hotels that have a 24 hour front desk. I understand that they would have been frustrated by our continued findings of filth, but simply telling us to leave because you Don’t want to deal with the issues is not very professional. We advised the owners daughter via WhatsApp that the request for us to leave as a solution at such an hour was absurd and we would not be leaving. Of course our preference was not to stay and regardless of knowing it would likely Be impossible we tried driving around the island for an hour looking for something else. Airbnb customer service also attempted to assist but we were unable to find anything available that
