room was a little jaded (curtains not well arranged, window had a beading missing, and the bathroom was just a little past its prime) and the tea/coffee hidden in a cupboard (why?) and there was only one sachet of hot choc and one pack of biscuits for two occupants - but the bed was huge, and we loved the two bottles of still & sparkling water which met our two preferences! These days a couple of charging points would also be welcome. Chosen for location so can't fault that - and the lovely doorman (the local cat) was an absolute asset to the hotel. Would book again.

Visited here on Sunday evening for dinner, the food was very nice. Quite expensive for 4 people but you pay for what you get. We walked up to the bar and were greeted by a lovely gentleman who showed us to a table. However this is when it went down hill. A waitress came over to take our drinks order, quite tall and slim young ish lady (not sure of her name) and she didn’t even greet us… simply just “can I get you a drink” a small hello how are you would of been nice. She did not even smile once the whole time serving us. We waited around 20 minutes for her to bring the drinks over, there were 3 tables outside and 5 tables inside so it was not busy at all. Food came in an ok ish amount of time but she just seemed very slow, we were sat waiting with empty plates for a good 15 minutes and she was stood near the till wiping menus. The service really let the whole experience down for us and when you’re spending over £120 you expect it to match. We did leave a tip as being a waitress myself I know how it feels but the service was honestly such a let down.

I can only say how it was! Arrived to be told that the early check in we had booked wasn't on the system ( although the restaurant bookings I made at the same time were, uhmm) so had to wait while our room was serviced. Room 104, balcony with seaview was clean and tidy with fans, big comfy bed and bottles of water. The balcony was no where near what we expected. About 18 inches deep with very old bistro table and chairs with a massive Aircon pipe right outside that made terrible noises. We reported this to the Manager Carl who took everything on board but nothing can be done about it and you certainly can't leave the balcony door open. Booked restaurant for 7pm walked in and could see no check in point. We approached a member of staff and said we had a table booked and were told to just sit anywhere and a menu would be provided. 20mins later, no menu and no one had asked if we wanted drinks so my husband went up to the bar and asked for the menu and drinks. Finally got to order 2 ribeye steaks, but 5 mins later the waitress came back and said they didn't have any.. when our 2nd choice arrived it was really tasty. Breakfast the following morning....my husband is gluten free, ordered GF poached eggs with salmon toast and no hollandaise sauce, I ordered sausage bacon and tomato. Husband got GF bread, salmon and hollandaise sauce, no poached eggs and hollandaise sauce contains gluten, I got a full English breakfast so it all had to go back. At each breakfast something wasn't right and the milk for cereal was sour on our last day. The following 2 evening in the restaurant were very different, we booked in for 6 and it was not busy so the staff weren't under pressure which they certainly were on the first night. Big shout out to Michael in the restaurant, believe he was a new member of staff and he was brilliant. Reception were always helpful, carpark was really good but got busy later in the day. Housekeeping was excellent, lovely lady who did our room. I know this all sounds very moany but it how it was, however, we really loved our stay inspite of the hiccups and we would go back. If you have the chance to see the Summertime show at the Pavilion you should go. Amazing beach with stairs at the hotel that lead down to the beach area.

This hotel offers stunning bars, dining rooms and it is generally really nicely decorated and presented. We were however, disappointed with the standard of the accommodation. Very old fashioned furniture, 1970’s springs to mind. There were no toiletries whatsoever, apart from hand wash. Our view was of a brick wall. The room was on 3rd floor, there are no lifts in this hotel, it was very hot and stuffy, the windows wouldn’t open so we asked for them to be unscrewed for some ventilation. We slept ok, the bed was small but comfortable. Disappointingly there wasn’t a buffet breakfast despite being busy, we prefer buffet as it can be quicker and you can have exactly what you want, everything kept running out, pastries, fresh fruit salad etc, people were getting impatient. I chose eggs Benedict, it looked delicious but the muffin was not toasted so it went very soggy. The sausages and bacon were very good. There is a carpark and it is free, you just have to register your car, it was very busy though. On the whole this is quite a nice hotel it just needs some improvements to the accommodation.

What a fantastic experience. I was honestly blown away by our time at The Cliff. I had the Argentinian prawns and the sea bass - both were absolutely delish and as a pescatarian it was great to see so many good options on the menu. The drinks were also amazing. I’ve drank a lot of margaritas in my time and that was up there with the best. The flat white martini was also out of this world. We went back the next day for another one. The vibes were also lovely. We were there in a large group for a hen weekend and Jack was a fantastic server. Nothing was too much trouble and had the perfect amount of charisma and humour with his service. It can be hard to impress 9 women - but that Jack did. It’s such a shame I live 4 hours away because this would be a regular spot for me.

While we were on holiday in Gorleston on Sea , it was our 17th Wedding Anniversary on Sunday 9th June so we decided to book a table for dinner at The Cliff Hotel. On arrival, we were greeted by a very friendly Lithuanian girl who said we could choose our seats, so we chose a booth and ordered a Pina Colada and a Birra Moretti. The menu had so many lovely choices however once we decided, we ordered our meal, we ordered Rib Eye Steak and Beef Brisket which arrived quickly and was hot and really tasty. We ordered 2 more rounds of drinks and also ordered pudding : Rum’n’Raisin, Vanilla and Salted Caramel Ice Cream plus a Mango Mess - both were delicious. We paid the bill £82 + tip so a total of £90.00 which was well worth it. We decided to go onto the terrace to finish our drinks however it was chilly out there and although there were blankets and heaters that you could get for your table, we chose to go back inside in the warm. The night had been lovely and we thanked each of the lovely staff before we left. We would certainly go back sometime in the future and fully recommend this place.

Wow! We had such an amazing meal at the Cliff for my hen party. On arrival the decor was absolutely stunning, and the bar area restaurant area had a wonderful vibe. We weren't made to feel any trouble (sometimes people have preconceptions of hen parties!) Our server was Jack and it's safe to say he was probably one of the best waiters I've ever had. He had great character and made us feel very well looked after! The food was also incredible! Would definitely recommend this place!

Waitress was great, really good service. Food was excellent. A great place to meet and eat with the family. Beautiful old hotel overlooking the beach and sea. Although it was too cold for us to sit outside, the terrace looked amazing too! Highly recommended.

I stayed in a room with a balcony and sea view, it was spacious with a big king size bed with 4 pillows. A nice touch to have both botted still water and sparkling water fresh every day. Everyone was friendly and the bar/restaurant were comfortable for solo travellers. Also popular with no-guest visitors. The prom at Gorleston is lovely and I walked a few miles every day and ate/drank at the pier hotel when on my walk.
