Next to Peperpot parc there is this cute little place with amazing owners. They organized some tours for us (Unlock Nature tours is theirs as well) and in between we always came back. Its small and cozy, a nice place to rest and connect with some other travellers and hear out the other tourguides on their amazing experiences. You can walk or take a bike to Peperpot and discover it by yourself or do a kayak night tour. They are absolutely experienced in tours and expeditions to undiscovered places in Surinam.

Our group was on an overland expedition Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Brazil and back to Guyana, we spent time at this beautiful facility, it was exceptional and loved the beautiful breakfast idea! Definitely will come again and thank you to our beautiful host , u did a fantastic job of making us feel welcome !

The quality of the accommodations was very good with all the amenities you'd expect, but what really stood out was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They not only supplied our room with bread, eggs, and fresh fruit but asked the next day whether we needed more. And when my phone had stopped operating because of moisture, within a minute or two they brought me a bag of rice to dry it out in. We were on a birding tour and had stayed in some pretty rough places, so Sutopia was a breath of fresh air!

In Sutopia waan je je in een paradijs. Nee, je bént in een paradijs. Regelmatig wandelde ik bij zonsopkomst mijn appartement uit om me met een kop koffie te installeren in de hangmat en te luisteren naar de vogels, krekels of (soms) brulapen die ook ontwaakten. Vaak vond ik mezelf terug in het hangmattenkamp met uitzicht over de Surinamerivier en omgeven door bomen en planten. Vooral wanneer de zon onderging, de hemel rood-oranje kleurde en ik de lichtjes van de stad aan de overkant op het water kon zien schitteren, prijsde ik me zó gelukkig dat ik hier mocht zijn. In dat hangmattenkamp kon een lampje aan, maar ik zat er meestal gewoon in het donker, starend over het water, kijkend naar die overkant. Soms lag ik simpelweg in het zwembad: het centrale middelpunt tussen de appartementen. Ik vond vooral de verfrissende ochtendduik een fijne start van mijn dag, maar de sfeerverlichting die het zwembad in de avond omringde, maakte het ook 's avonds een gezellige plek om te zijn. Het zijn maar een paar voorbeelden van hoe fijn ik Sutopia vond. Voor mij was Sutopia perfect als uitvalsbasis voor trips en een heel fijn verblijf om tot rust te komen op momenten dat ik het wat rustiger aan wilde doen. Ver genoeg van de stad om rust te ervaren, dicht genoeg bij de stad om drukte op te zoeken. Dat alles werd overgoten met een saus van gastvrijheid door Lieke en Dick: twee mensen die je niet alleen een warm welkom en verblijf geven, maar die ook nog gezellig zijn. Ik heb ze in mijn hart gesloten. Toen ik in Suriname was, betrapte ik mezelf erop dat ik Sutopia 'thuis' noemde. Want zo voelde dat. Inmiddels ben ik in Nederland. Maar één ding is me volkomen duidelijk: ik hoop dat ik snel weer naar huis kan.
