Our stay here was absolutely unforgettable! The hosts, an incredibly pleasant couple, gave us a warm welcome and took service and hospitality to a whole new level. The location was stunningly beautiful, like something out of a postcard! And their friendly, large dog was truly an added delight. As a mother and daughter from Norway on a round trip, this place was the highlight of the entire journey. We felt right at home here and will definitely be back!

Delightful country inn lying at the heart of the Surrey Hills with friendly and welcoming staff, pleasant rooms, great food and fine beer. A two-night stay wasn't long enough to explore the surrounding area and we will certainly be back. Convenient for Gatwick Airport too.

Stayed here for a wedding since there aren't too many places in the area. Our room stank of cigarette smoke and dog. Decor tired and in much need of a refresh. Curtain was hanging off the rail. Bags of dirty laundry piled up in the hall. Could do with a good clean.

We booked at The Plough for a night while exploring the Surrey Hills. The welcome was warm and the staff super helpful and nice to talk to! The room was nicely decorated with good bed linens and high quality amenities. There was a little noise from the pub below during the evening but nothing to worry about and that stopped at closing time. This is a village pub but NOT a rowdy one! We dined in the restaurant on the evening and had breakfast the next day. All food was super tasty and good value. Do eat there if you're staying there as you will certainly enjoy the food! All in all a lovely stay and we would certainly consider visiting again.

This was a mixed bag of a stay. The staff is very pleasant and the food at the inn really was excellent. The room itself seemed to have rather less attention to details. The entryway to the rooms was rather cluttered with linens laundry bags which remained throughout our stay, and only about half of the lights in the room worked, leaving it quite dim at all times. The staff noted to us the problem with the lights as we checked in but they seemed strangely uninterested in doing anything about it and this remained unaddressed. We also noted a bit of mold in the shower and ceiling in the bathroom which shouldn’t be tolerated. All in all this wasn’t a terrible stay, but if you have other options I would suggest considering those instead.

The hotel was very shabby but not chic. Initially I was given a small room at the rear of the hotel. Wardrobe non functioning, door wedged closed with a coffee table. Inside very dusty with someone else’s clothes in a carrier bag. Shower room cramped and grubby with mould around the ceiling. Bed was clean and comfortable. Water hot but not draining properly. After complaining I was given a larger better room but lights didn’t work over the bathroom mirror. Paint peeling off the ceiling. Bed very comfortable. Management apologised for the state of the rooms and said they were waiting a refurbishment. Breakfasts were well prepared and tasty. I was given a 30% reduction on my bill. I don’t recommend this hotel until it is given a full renovation both inside and outside. Not appropriate for the elderly or disabled because all bedrooms are accessed up an outside metal fire staircase. It was a pity because the village of cold harbour was very pretty.

A very warm welcome awaited us at the Plough and dinner was gorgeous with a fine selection of local ales - including some made at the pub’s own brewery out back. As we were staying we also had a splendid Sunday lunch before walking it off on a trip up to Leith Hill tower. A great base for exploring the local area on foot or bike.

Stayed here overnight before Gatwick flight. Very pretty and quiet location with narrow, winding, practically single track road from Dorking. All the staff we met were friendly and efficient. Pleasant welcome and as all rooms are up on outside staircase we were helped with luggage. Evening meal in pub was very nice and good a**osphere. Breakfast was also of good quality though practically all hot dishes without any fruit or cereal options. The whole place appears to have been fairly recently refurbished. It’s starting to show signs of wear but is still very tasteful. Bed was comfortable though we would have liked more pillows. The bath towels were also of nice quality. We enjoyed our stay and thought it was good value. However, we felt the following small improvements would really elevate the experience for little cost: 1) the heating was not on when we arrived. Staff turned it on promptly when asked but it made for an unwelcome start. 2) housekeeping needed more attention. It was not dirty but there was paper on table from previous guest, empty shampoo bottle (we assume left by guest in shower), only 1 tea bag and dirty & dangerously cracked cups. The nice quality curtains were partially hanging off the rail. This gave an unkempt appearance and only needs a few pennies spending on plastic clips. Note- There were no shampoo, conditioner or body wash supplied so ensure you pack some (unless this too was an oversight of housekeeping as there was, somewhat randomly, 3 bottles of body lotion supplied!). The cups/heating were cheerfully sorted by staff but it would have been nice not to have had to address them. 3) Our biggest issues were WiFi and the shower. Wifi was non existent in the bedroom. It was strong in the pub but not having it working adequately in our room, is a major issue in this day and age. Our evening shower was lovely and warm but there was no hot water for a 7.30am shower - which was an unpleasant start for one of us! 4) We also emailed a couple of questions twice ahead of our visit but never received a reply. It was not a big issue but given the great customer service we received while at The Plough it is surprising (and had circumstances been different, it may have caused us to book elsewhere).
