First off, the delightful landlady made check-in a breeze and really helped me unwind after my journey. Next, I received a discount coupon for the Sainokawara Open-Air Bath, which was incredibly relaxing for both body and mind. The room was spacious, and I could see the snowy scenery of Kusatsu Hotel from the large window. There are two types of hot springs on the first floor, along with a sauna. This laid-back annex contributed greatly to a thoroughly satisfying trip. Thank you, landlady!

JaQwWe stayed in Naraya House for 1 night and it was perfect. The staffs were all very kind and helpful that I am truly grateful for all their assistance given throughout our stay. We had a suite, rm no.206, it was stunningly amazing! I only know I am booking a suite with a beautiful view of the yubatake and private onsen. I didn't know it's a gigantic duplex suite with the best view of the yubatake! The room door opens to a western style living and dining area that fits with a set of sofa for 6 and a dining table for 4 with 2 benches. To the left of this western style area is 2 double beds, a walk-in closet and a toilet. I could see Japanese syle beddings in a cupboard which I believe they would be made when the room is booked for more than 2 persons. Facing the sofa is a TV panel. Behind the TV is a Japanese style sitting area with a coffee table and a view of the yubatake. The view is picturesque. There you can also find a stairs going down to the suite's private onsen bath. It's actually on a balcony overlooking the yubatake, the same gorgeous view as in its Japanese style sitting area above, just without the windows, ie closer and clearer picture of the yubatake without reflections. But be aware ppl on the street can see u too, as you can see the windows r just next to 7.11 The meal provided was fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the freshly made sushi. The salmon roe was just so fresh that they were actually shining like marbles. All the ingredients used are high quality. My kid, who is usually picky on food, was pleased with the menu. He already wanted to come back again. Next time, we will stay here for more nights in order to better experience the beauty of Kusatzu.
Ps I usually don't bother to write a review, I am doing this one in return to the hotel's great service and hospitality. Thank you and until next time~

We had an exceptional stay at this hotel! The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating, patiently waiting for us despite our late arrival and proactively reaching out via email to ensure everything was set. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful with a natural charm, and the onsen was a delightful experience. The beds were also wonderfully comfortable, making our stay truly relaxing. Highly recommend this gem!

Kusatsu itself is a magnificent place. The hotel is located right in the center. The room type was traditional with futons, and we had a mountain view, which was stunning in the morning. The hotel is well-maintained. We absolutely loved the onsen at the hotel – it was incredibly enjoyable! It was clean, beautiful, and comfortable. I particularly want to highlight the breakfasts and dinners; the selection was absolutely superb. Highly recommended!

Guest UserVery nice Japanese style room overlooking the river and the tree filled riverbank hill. It was very private. Breakfast and dinner was served at the table and was excellent. Much variety of fish, chicken, pork, tofu, and vegetables. The overall atmosphere was very elegant and relaxed. The ryokan is located right on one of the bus stops for easy access from the train station. It is a short 10 minute walk to the main area of town. There are several onsen pools. Some rotate between men and women at different hours. Very clean with good amenities. Overall a very memorable stay.

This onsen ryokan in Kusatsu has a public bath and rooms with private hot springs. The add-on wagyu beef set was also of good quality. You can also walk to the nearby sister ryokan to use their public bath.

Highly recommend staying for two consecutive nights; the outdoor onsen in the snow was amazing! We stayed in a nine-person room, split into two separate spaces, and the rooms were very spacious. The 'one night, two meals' package for two days offered delicious and varied meals. On our last night, we added the all-you-can-drink option for less than 500 NTD per person, which was incredibly good value. Plus, there were free noodles available until 10:30 PM!

Booked the Japanese style room with toilet. Shower room has to be shared on the 2nd floor. Room has no amenities at all. Basic hair dryer and hot flask are in the communal area. We had to set up the bed ourselves. Room was dusty and was freezing cold even tho there was heater from the air con on winter’s night. There’s instructions to learn how to kill the stink bugs. The hotel facilities are good but the overall experience wasn’t good.

The hotel is not far from the Kusatsu central area, about an 8-minute walk from the Kusatsu bus stop. I had booked a tatami room, but was given a twin room instead. The room was spacious with windows on two sides. The hotel's large public bath was spacious, although the outdoor pool was a bit small, only accommodating 3-4 people. Dinner was Japanese cuisine, but the variety and portions were limited, and the ingredients weren't particularly special. The staff were polite, and there was a shuttle bus to the Kusatsu bus stop. Overall, the price is worth comparing with other options before making a decision.

Alc101Absolutely beautiful location and multiple hot spring options! The buffet breakfast was exquisite as well ask the multi-course dinner. Sadly we only were able to stay one night but waking up in morning to see beautiful flurries of snow surrounded by mountains was much more magical and memorable than I imagined! During our stay, I even lost my camera and the staff were so kind to go down the mountain and mail it to me at the airport, speak Japanese to the staff at the airport to help me find it and I am forever grateful for their kindness and service. If I lost my camera I would’ve lost all my photos and videos of the trip! The staff speak Chinese and fluent English and so it was really easy to communicate with them. Will definitely come back!! Thank you Shima Tamura!
