We didn’t get to stay at the property as our flight was cancelled and rescheduled for the next evening. We let the hotel know that we wouldn’t be arriving that evening, using ******* messaging service, however would still require the room for the following 2 nights.
However, they WhatsApp messaged me a few hours before our rescheduled flight the next day to say they could no longer accommodate our booking and had booked us into another hotel. They assured us that the new hotel were okay with our late arrival (estimated 11.30pm).
As we were about to go to the gate and would arrive in Naples around 11pm I didn’t feel we were in a position to refuse the alternative accommodation and try to book somewhere ourselves.
As it happens the new hotel check in closed at 11pm (shortly after we landed). I had to message both parties, the staff member who’d been messaging me from hotel napolitamo called the new hotel and asked them to wait so we weren’t stranded in Naples in the middle of the night with our luggage. The new hotel was messaging me every few minutes hurrying us along - unfortunately I had no control over how long it took the airline to give us our baggage.
Upon arrival at the new hotel, which was further than the airport that Hotel Napolitamo, they charged us a €20 ‘late check in fee’ and they don’t do breakfast. We had breakfast booked with Hotel Napolitamo.
All in all it was a pretty dismal affair and we were not offered even a partial refund.
