After travelling for over an hour and a half for a game of golf I have to rate Bells 1 out of 5 and the 1 would be for the location. Our tee was booked for 15.00, we eventually got off 20 minutes late and after playing just 11 holes we walked off as there were x4 groups on the 12th tee waiting and 2 groups waiting on the 13th, this was pretty much reflected on every hole. I also have to comment on the temporary greens, we were not advised of temporary greens when we checked in and of the 11 holes we played, one hole was shut, there were three temporary greens which were nothing more than a large hole cut in the fairway, really very poor. Finally I have to mention the service I have received from the hotel. I have sent numerous emails asking for some feedback to my complaint. The hotel lost my initial email so I sent it again, they did acknowledge receipt on this occasion and advise they would pass it over to the golf pro but after 4 chasing emails I am yet to receive a response, they obviously do not care about their clients. I would strongly recommend you do not visit during the weekends as there are far too many people on the course, there is no marshaling or control so it will take 6 hours or more to get round and when you complain they will just ignore you.

A party of 40 tourists with a mix of ages up to 90 plus had a very enjoyable experience at this hotel, over a 3 night stay. Excellent, food, service and accommodation provided by a super friendly and attentive staff. (Their support and assistance for a lady who had an unfortunate accident was exceptional) Highly recommended.

Bells Hotel is part of the golf complex near the centre of Coleford. A short walk into town ands to the cycle route network or a short drive to the forest. There is plenty of free parking on site. There is 24 hour reception, but a bell is needed to call staff from the club house at times. All is clearly labelled at reception. Reception staff were friendly and efficient. There are stairs to the upper floor but no lift. Help with the bags was offered. The corridor was a bit glum with carpet showing its age. Breakfast is served in the club house across the car park from the hotel. Lunch, dinner and bar are all available in the club house. The good sized room was clean and comfortable. Decoration was bit jaded. Plenty of hot water for the ensuite shower, soft towels and reasonable toiletries. Views over the golf course and town of Coleford. Breakfast buffet had juice, fruit yoghurt, cereal and a choice of hot items for a full British breakfast. Fried bread was especially tasty. Friends were able to join us for breakfast for a reasonable fee and staff were friendly and helpful in sorting this. Functional more than picturesque. Overall good value so we are repeat visitors.

The staff and food and drinks were great. It just a shame the building leet the place down. The room was shabby, the water in the shower changed from scolding hot to cold all the time half the lights didn't works. The toilets in the club house stunk and again water was scolding hot.

Stayed here for one night. The room was very run down but I guess this was reflected in the price. Paid extra for breakfast but when we went down at just before 10 we were told they were closing and made to feel very unwelcome, we left and went elsewhere for food. When I rang the next day to request a refund the receptionist was very short with me, promised me a manager would ring me, I have waited a month before posting a negative review but as I have had zero communication I felt it was about time. Would not stay here again. Reception staff seriously need to sort their attitudes out.

Convenient for us , easy parking. Extra large firm bed, comfy, quiet, clean room, good shower. I personally prefer a bath but for one night it was ok. Nice simple tasteful modern design and decor . Reasonable price.Would recommend. Didn't have breakfast so can't review that.
