This is a story about lack of attention to detail. We booked the closest room to the beach. Upon arrival, we discovered there was no curtains or any other way to make the room private. As we were staying for 2 weeks, we wanted some privacy. Management told us that the shutters had been eaten out by borer during the lock down and they had not bothered, or could not, replace them. We informed them that if we had known about this, we would not have booked the accommodation. So I asked for a sheet and a battery drill and put up the sheet to give us privacy. The shower was not cleaned for the first 10 days of our stay and started to become more black than white with our dirty feet. I also noticed that the permanent wiring for the unit was just lying on the ground under the unit and would get blown around in the wind. There is a very good reason that wiring is made secure in a building. If it can move around, it becomes a way that a building can burn down when the insecure wiring breaks and causes a fire. I regarded the risk as low, so I did not mention it to my wife who would have worried. The smoke alarm had been removed at some point, I know this because the base was still screwed above the entrance to the kitchen. The curtains facing out to the pool, were torn and looked tatty. The location of the property was great, and the grounds were well kept. Management did come to us and apologize for the lack of a curtain and we insisted they tell future guests. In hospitality, attention to detail is what makes one property stand out over another. Muri Beach Hideaway needs more attention to detail and an upgrade. Some paint for the inside would not be a bad start.
