My Family and I stayed in Goatfell for 4 nights. While the weather was not perfect with overcast skies and howling winds, we found our sanctuary in the house. We enjoyed the cool weather coupled with the endless hospitality of the team at Goatfell. We loved all of ours meals, the chef and team even prepared special items that were not on the menu. Each one of the members of the team at Goatfell was excellent and made sure our every need was attended to as best as they could. When the wifi was down, they lent us an additional router to use so that we could answer all of our emails. Our stay at Goatfell felt like a home away from home. We would definitely come back here and recommend that others visit as well!

We just returned , after spending a wonderful long weekend at Goatfell. Despite the adverse weather; which was heavy winds and rain almost the entire trip- Goatfell still didn’t fail us. . The location is an old estate bungalow converted into a cozy and more than comfortable 4 room. The staff was Azgar and the team who made it their mission to make sure everything was upto snuff specially since we couldn’t step out much due to the weather. We caught a bit of sun during the stay and we got to trek downhill to the tea plantation. They also have some great hike trails. The view is just magnificent, the chef did a marvelous job with the amazing food . The butler went out of his way to ensure that the food was to our satisfaction ; always with the smile on his face. The pool isn’t heated as its outdoor; but the view from near the pool deck is just stunning

Wow. What a fabulous place. High up in the hills with stunning views you dream of. Goatfell is the perfect retreat for peace and tranquility. Just 4 nicely appointed rooms so you feel like you almost have the place to yourself. Fabulous friendly staff with just the right level of attentiveness. Delicious food and cocktails. Nice walks to be had as well. All the ingredients for the perfect stay.

One of most exceptional experience in a boutique hotel. Enjoyed a mesmerizing mountain view and a relaxing environment. Also, the service provided by the staff was excellent and friendly. The rooms are very clean and spacious. One of the memorable experience ever and highly recommended.

This really is the perfect retreat, tucked away on the edge of a tea plantation we stayed for 3/4 days with friends and couldn’t fault anything. From the moment we walked through the door everything had been thought of, it was the first time I had stayed anywhere where we had our own personal butler !! We were greeted with a drink and a nice warm fire (despite being March temperatures in the evening were like we were used to in the UK ) Rooms were large and comfortable meals were to die for, we really couldn’t find anything to fault during our stay. The hardest part was saying goodbye. I would recommend Goatfell as a private and exclusive place to stay it is off the beaten track but well worth the journey I am just looking for an excuse to visit again…..

The hotel is high up in the hills expect a 15min drive up once leaving the main road very quiet location with nice self guided phone app walks /bike rides available . Friendly staff could not be more helpful nice fresh food cooked to order .

Despite the cold and wet weather, we loved Goatfell. Great setting, very peaceful, great food but best of all were the waiters Indika and Priyan. Endless cups of tea, arrack cocktails and even a brief Japanese lesson at the table, the two of them made our trip to Goatfell. 5* service. Arigatōgozaimasu!

The approach to this hotel is along a rough and steep track that wends through a massive working tea plantation. As you rise from the plains the temperature drops and the mist sets in around you. All of this sets the scene for this hotel of tranquillity and respite. The train journey from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya had set the tone is it slowly wound its way up the mountain revealing vistas across lush valleys and revealing waterfalls through the jungle and the tea plants. After all the travel, stepping out to revel this renovated bungalow of just four residential rooms feels like coming home to a colonial time. Ushered into a comfortable sofa next to an open fire from the moment you arrive you are made to feel like some sort of gentry. As with most of our travel so far we were once again the only guests in this home and it does feel like a home not a hotel. The rooms are softly furnished with warm throws to use against the nightly chill. The vista from the verandah across the infinity edge pool is breathtaking. The room opens onto a terrace and croquet lawn surrounded by agapanthus all dominated by a view from 2000 metres that feels like you are looking down upon the entirety of Sri Lanka. Is it any wonder that the early colonial people sort out this haven away from the heat of the coastal regions. All the staff were simply amazing, Indika was on hand constantly, serving food, making gin and tonic. Suraj checking in to make sure all was in order, organising tea tours and hikes, overseeing the smoothest of experiences. Chef makes excellent meals with the best croissants I have tasted in this country, tasty ice creams and a stunning seafood bisque. Turn down service has the lovely quirk of coming with a hot water bottle complete with a cosy knitted coat ready for you to tuck up for a fabulous nights sleep. In this extremely difficult time in Sri Lanka some wines and spirits are simply not available but it is of no matter as this experience is one of the best you will ever have.

A peaceful getaway with amazing food, surrounded by nature in the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea estates. Service was a 10/10 - such friendly staff, attention to small details. Tailor made experience. Location; in the heart of one of Sri Lanka’s tea estates. Great hiking possibilities and there are mountainbikes one can use. If you are looking to wind down, be in peaceful surroundings, love hiking and tea, this charming boutique hotel is great. Would recommend using full board as the food is lovely! Facilities: the rooms have a lovely styling, modern mixed with old English charm. Finishing touch was the heated rubber water jug in our beds each night! Enjoy a game of croquet or jump in the pool (although that might be cold in the rainy season). Played board games, had high tea next to the fire place after a visit to the tea estate. Recommendation: maybe the option to get a massage in the room. Overall a perfect spot for two nights of 100% unwinding and dining!
