Decided on a last minute trip to Dover and selected to stay in Sandwich as quieter. Couldnt have had a nicer welcome from George and Kelsea in the Bar, lovely people really friendly and chatty. Room was lovely and quaint, with slopey ceilings and walls, just like youd expect in a building so old! Brass everywhere in the bar, gorgeously maintained huge roses in the garden, and John the owner… who took over around 17months ago is the best scottish man iv met! What a top bloke, couldnt do enough for us. All round was a really good experience. And the food… John was right the Chicken burger was one of the best iv had and the steak my prtner had was so big and juicy! Unfortunately breakfast wasnt available as the poor guy was poorly, but they complimented us drinks off the bill instead which tbh we preffered. Lovely locals to chat to everyones really friendly and such a laugh. Thank you all for your jokes and laughter and catering to my very fussy dinner needs. We’ll be back now we’re Heritage members lol. Thank you again!

So pleased that we chose this lovely traditional pub for a reunion lunch for 8 friends. I booked over the phone a couple of weeks ago and spoke to one of the helpful and friendly staff there who offered us the option of the private annexe. On arrival we were quickly seated, given menus and sorted out with drinks straight away. Plenty of food choices including a roast at very reasonable prices. Service was attentive and efficient. We all chose different meals and all were thoroughly enjoyed by every one of us. My seabass was perfectly cooked with a huge selection of sides brought to the table. The private area was lovely with a warm and welcoming feel. We had a fabulous time. Highly recommend- we will certainly return.

After hunting around for somewhere nice for an overnight stay online, I chanced upon the King's Arms. And what a lovely discovery - I only wish I'd found it previously. We were given excellent and genuine attention upon arrival and throughout our brief stay. We both decided upon the steak and kidney pudding for evening meal - our only problem being that we couldn't finish it (we never expected it to be so big!) Will definitely not be having such a large brunch on the way down to Kent next time! Bedroom was spotless and the beds very comfy. Breakfast next morning hit the spot beautifully - you really couldn't ask for more! Overall 10/10 and we'll definitely be back down in December - thank you!

Good garden with table service if you are eating ( you don't find this out until you get to the bar to order, because nobody comes near you to offer menus or greetings). Very fish and meat heavy menu, the one vegan option hasn't changed in months and veggie or vegan items are not on the daily specials. My main complaint is the lack of initial service either at the bar or in the garden. I was ignored at the bar on two occasions even though there were enough staff there and they always seem to avoid eye contact with people my side of the bar. I am not talking a few seconds here but a good few minutes on each visit. No " I'll be with in a moment" or "sorry for the wait". Two of the staff would come to the garden entrance, have a peek and then disappear, completely ignoring people who had either just arrived and did not know whether it was table service or not, and those who could have been waiting to order. Once again, even when they did venture into the garden to pick up plates and empties they made sure they never made eye contact with the diners, except for one table which had their mates on it. Overall a nice pub and garden unfortunately with some staff who obviously do not want to be there and would probably be annoyed if they were ignored as customers themselves.

Stayed 2 nights having been to the pub/restaurant before so had high expectations of the room. Had a twin room which was a very large room but that's the only plus Shower room was created in tbe corner with a small cubicle and a curtain that only just reached the tray and a saniflo waste system. Also the basin was a tiny cloakroom size not big enough for a shower room. Seat was wonky but i managed to sort that out being a bathroom installer. Tv was very small no biscuits with the tea making and a very bland looking room cheap pine furniture that almost matched However breakfast was amazing place was convenient with parking Pity as 3 stars isn't enough but 4 is too many Would stay again for the breakfast with lower expectations
