Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai Reviews

I enjoyed my spontaneous night stay at the Kempinski. I mainly went there to experience Le Petiti Chef, given to me as an early birthday present. The night stay was decided upon after our experience at LPC. However, the hotel is a bit dusty, especially on the floors with the rooms, as I just couldn’t stop sneezing being there. Shower slippers should be provided as the shower floor could do with a little more cleaning. The finger foods during happy hour and afternoon tea were amazingly delicious but the breakfast food that requires going back to the drawing board. Huge disappointment, so much for being the most important meal of the day. I ordered eggs and pancakes off the menu and the scrambled eggs were very tasteless, it didn’t even taste like eggs. I think there was way too much watery milk in there, and the pancakes were literally two pan sized raspberry cakes. Nothing close to the texture or consistency of an actual pancake. And it was served with honey, where is the maple syrup or pancake syrup? The only good thing at breakfast for me was the latte and cappuccino. And that welcome fruit platter, that needs to be worked upon, hardly a platter for starters and put more thought into the fruit because you guys had better fruits at the tea time and happy hour. Overall, for the price of one night, more attention to detail is needed. Also this whole pre-authorised thing is stupid. It comes like you have to first fork out over 5600 plus just for your night stay. I have stayed at the J hotel and they don’t require this nonsense, if you need a higher deposit just say so. The WiFi sucks and no matter how you turn the taps the water is hot. Turn it to cold it is hot, turn it to hot it is boiling hot. So, the water temperature goes from hot to hottest, not sure why that was the case in our room. Anyways, on the plus side, the bed was comfy, the river view is beautiful and the few staff members I came across were very friendly and just about everyone spoke some level of English, which to me is a must when it’s an international hotel.

I stayed here with my family for 2 nights because we came to see Sunset Boulevard. The hotel was perfectly located to get to the theatre and close to other sightseeing spots too. The service at the hotel was great, we enjoyed the room and the breakfast buffet, and the Mediterranean Brunch at the Spanish restaurant was delicious. The price was also great for the location and quality. I’ll definitely be back, especially if I come to see another show in the same theater.

One of the solid 5 stars in Shanghai. Breakfast was tasty Service is top notch as many staff are able to speak english. Room is comfortable. Near Metro Will stay again

I checked in late at night and there was a minor delay with my luggage, I spoke to the manager on duty once and immediately he apologised, gave me reason and gave me complementary breakfast . Overall the follow up service was wonderful. Concierge staff were excellent , so fast , so helpful , so friendly. Assisted me every single time I asked , collect my luggage , get my take out , courier my package. Amazing service . Initially I wasn’t happy with the view I got , the manager immediately made special arrangements for me to ensure my baby and I were happy! Beautiful river view. The child amenities are cute and carefully packaged in a little gift bag. Good location. Hotel is clean . Smells great. Swimming pool is fun . Comfortable. I will definitely stay again! A good experience

Despite being located at the best locations in Shanghai, considering the  price we paid we  expected more. The hotel service and amenities was ok!

I recently stayed here and had a good experience overall. The staff were helpful and polite, making check-in and other interactions smooth and straightforward. The room was spacious, offering plenty of space to move around comfortably, and the bathroom was larger than expected, which was a nice touch. The bed was comfortable, which made for a restful night’s sleep. The cleanliness of both the room and the hotel in general was noticeable and appreciated. While it didn’t feel overly luxurious, it was a solid, comfortable stay. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean and reliable place to stay.

Fantastic view! After my trip to 2 other province in guangzhou and tianjin, I had a 2 night stay in Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai. I should stay here longer instead. I guess I will miss this place. It's really worth it.

Our room has great river view, clean and very comfortable bed. Thankyou for the cake for my late birthday. We enjoy our time. Breakfast was great lots of variety to choose. Dinner was amazing we love it and looking forward to come back again with our family. Thankyou staffs for great services too.

After 9 years back to grand kempinsky was without any expectations…I have to say amazingly satisfied! Congratulations Team well done! Thanks for your great service!! Especially you 2 ladies in red!

7,5/10 Prons: 1. Location is great. Mainly why we chose it. 2. The room is spacious with nice view. 3. Early check in and great service overall. Cons: 1. Booking system requires to pay almost one thousand dollars in advance. Even for one night (1800rmb to “book” the room, 1000 rmb deposit and 1800 to pay at the hotel). 2. The hotel itself is quite old, and some amenities are missing in the room. 3. The breakfast is super mid, especially for the price. Wouldn’t recommend it. If the location is important, probably worth it.

We reserved a river view double room for anniversary and got upgraded to the executive floor. The view was fantastic and the facilities are outstanding. We were offered complimentary fruit platter (the picture showed only half of what we had as we forgot to take picture before eating) with a small cake for anniversary celebration. The overall service was nice. It was a great experience staying at Kempinski.
