Sol Tropikal Durrës

We arrived on 25th May at 11pm in to the hotel to find rowdy people filling the lobby, the lobby bar full of noise and an extremely unwelcoming atmosphere when trying to check in. It had been raining so we assumed that this was the reason why everyone was inside, and tried to put the is behind us. In fairness, this was not the case again throughout the week so did seem to be a one off, but did not set our week off well. We arrived with two friends and their baby, and asked for some bottled water to make baby bottles, and was told these are not included with our All Inclusive package, and were directed to a water fountain… with no way of transporting the water to our rooms. Thankfully we had some empty Coke bottles from the airport and proceeded to fill these to ensure the baby could have some milk that night, before we were able to purchase some at a local store. We went up to our rooms and our friends found that their room had no cot bed… and upon reporting it to reception was asked to wait until the morning to sort it out as it was now nearing midnight. There suggestion being no bed for one of their booked guests, listed as an infant on the booking… My husband also discovered that our balcony door did not lock, and this was reported to reception who asked if we could also address this in the morning, taking our room number yet nothing was ever mentioned again about it. The next day we went down to breakfast and were greeted with uncleared tables, all unwiped tables and dirty high chairs - a theme that continued throughout the week. This was also true of the lobby, where every morning you would be greeted with tables scattered in empty glasses from the night before. There didn’t seem to be anyone proactively tidying and clearing in any space of the resort. Upon returning to our room after being by the pool all day on our first day, the bedroom door was wide open from the corridor, seemingly it hadn’t caught the latch as housekeeping left the room, which is a mistake but one that is avoidable nonetheless. The room itself was clean and tidy otherwise but we did not opt for housekeeping the remainder of our week in fear the same would happen again. When reporting this to reception they simply asked ‘Well is anything missing?’ The food was mediocre and the buffet highlight had to be the morning pastries! We ate out more times than not in our ‘All Inclusive’ week as a result, but luckily the Boardwalk one bus stop away was fabulous with some amazing well priced eateries. The bus was also about 35p per person, and could take you all the way in to the centre of Durrës for that one fare price. We did use it daily to go one stop up from the hotel; and cut through to the boardwalk, which is beautiful at night. Back at the hotel, we used our one voucher to eat in the sit down restaurant for our three course meal on our last day, but having heard bad things about it all week we didn’t have much hope. From the moment we arrived the hotel was chaotic. We had a young baby and arrived at 11pm to a room with no child cot after asking on booking and at reception, to which we got told to wait till the morning. Food was absolutely vile, the booked restaurant was even worse than the buffet. Service was dreadful, no clean tables, high chairs filthy and broken ! All inclusive drinks were poor and glasses were unclean, and stacked high of dirty glasses at the bar. Such a shame as the pool and beach were fantastic, and Albania is such a beautiful place! Needless to say we WON’T be visiting Sol Tropikal again!

Mixed experience really, however we had great holiday despite the negatives. This was the first holiday my wife and I have had with our 2 boys being old enough to drink alcohol, so was looking forward to a more grown up break. We'd arranged airport transfer with the hotel for 35 euros, we found out later this was on the expensive side, Taxi Lux took us back to the airport for 22 euros. On arrival, we checked in, but we were early and our rooms weren't ready, but reception were great, they popped our luggage in the back room, gave us our AIl Inc wrist band and we sat by the pool for a few hours. 3pm we picked up our room keys and luggage and went to the rooms. I've read other reviews and spoke to other guests who said they had a welcome letter and sweet treat on arrival to the room, sadly we didn't, a little consistency would have been nice here. First meal was dinner, lots of choice, however not all the food was hot, some not even warm, I think the hot plate needs turning up. This continued for the whole week, so although lots of selection and hot food was great, cold carrots, cold broccoli, cold cauliflower and cold pizza was disappointing. The resort and private beach were very clean, we did see a lot of maintenance going on and painting of kerbs, but it didn't affect our stay. Entertainment/ Animation team were French, and only some spoke a little English, all the activities were catered for the French guests, so at first we felt a little left out, but I have to give the team a lot of respect, they tried to include us were possible and quite a few day activities there was only our family taking part, so we created a really good relationship with the team by the end of the week. The Gym facilities were basic, but great to have as an option, my youngest son used it a lot, but I'm not sure it's fully finished yet, there was bare wires, holes in walls and scaffolding in the middle of the room, for work still to be complete. Staff were great, always helpful and friendly, but I did get the impression that there was a staff shortage, we waited 20mins one night waiting to be served at the bar in reception. All Inc doesn't mean any drink, but there was no lists available letting you know what drinks we could have, we had quite a few responses of 'sorry that's not included in All Inclusive' but had been served the drink previously, so were left a little.confused. For a hotel who bill themselves as one of the best hotels on that area, I still think there is work to be done, especially around the food and drink. We've been to lower star rated hotels and had better choices. This is a lot of investment in this resort, hopefully once finished, they get most things right.

Efficient and friendly guest services/staff, went above and beyond in addressing my requests. Was also upgraded to a sea view room which was breathtaking esp on sun down. We have also received appetising delicacies and a personal handwritten welcome note in the room which we find to be a very unique and kind gesture indeed. The furnishing in the room are of high specs, comfortable mattress and extra large bed is a plus too. Beachfront property with lots of sun beds. Outdoor pools are both big and well maintained. Good value for money, highly recommended

I stayed at Sol Tropikal Durres in June 2023 with my family. We are glad that we chose that hotel. First of all it is situated in a big area, not like others near the centre sandwiched between some buildings. The grounds, garden are beautiful with lots of trees, palms, flowers. The beach is a part of hotel with free sunbeds. There are two big pools, wide sandy beach and delicious food with great italian pizzas everyday (the hotel has an italian restaurant). You can eat sea food, sushi and fish almost everyday. All members of staff are full of enthusiasm and are genuinely kind and willing to make your stay the best (waiters, receptionists, cleaning ladies). They clean your room everyday, even with changing your sheets everyday. There is a kidsdom, where children can spend their times, there are animations for kids - mini disco, cinema, baloons, tatoos. There is live music, disco for adults, streching, swimming zumba , beach volleball oraz beach running for adults. Barmans serve great drinks with lemon, mint, brown suger - excellent! I hope we will come and stay here again and see how this resort blossoms over the years, bacuse there are so changes to be maid in the future. In every hotel there are some things that should be improved: too little wastebaskets, laundry dryer on the balkony. In June not all facilities were opened yet.

Very good hotel just near the beach. Staff is all very helpfull and pleasant we really had an excellent week. Albania is such a beautiful country to discover trully recommended especially its coast area. Great value for money.

I like a lot the enterteiment team !! Vero good very proffesional team. They give you a good energy with their smile, Food is also good and the staff is very helpful and friendly .. the city is not to much far from hotel and is a nice city.. they clean the room everyday. The best!

Everything is very good.. rooms .. food and staff is very nice,, also the kidsclub is very good our children had an amazing time with girls and all of entertainers were really nice. we would love to come back again
