they did not respond to my email when i contacted them about late check in (as instructed by trip.com). had to dig online for their whatsapp number to contact them about it. note that they mention they have 24/7 check in available which is why i chose this hostel. they asked if i was a singaporean or PR/work permit holder and said they do not accept those. nowhere in the trip.com listing or their website does it say anything like this. i told them i was malaysian, and only then they acknowledged my late check in request. upon arrival near midnight, the front desk staff walked me to my room (shared room with 4 beds). she then turned on the bright room light presumably to check which bed was assigned to me, even when there was someone sleeping in the room. that person was sleeping in the bed assigned to me, so the staff woke them up to check their room/bed number on the spot. at this point, due to the confusion and me just staying one night, i opted to swap beds with that person. i also forgot i paid additional for the lower bunk specifically, but was pressured into taking an upper bunk originally assigned to that person (it’s late and i just wanted to rest). the bed also looked slept in. i felt like the staff could have done a bit better in this regard, such as offering me a fresh bed in another room if it were available, but also i just wanted to rest and immediately suggested swapping beds with that person ceiling is low if you are sleeping in the top bunk and there is a loud powerful fan on the ceiling. the room was air conditioned, but only at certain times of the day bathroom conditions are subpar and not very well maintained. shower is tiny and there is almost no place to hang your clothes where they can stay dry. you could change outside, but it’s a coed/mixed bathroom and also there’s no shelves or any clean surface to put your clothes. toiletries not provided. towels are also not provided and will cost you $5 to use one of theirs
