Generations Riviera Maya Family Resort Catamarán, Aqua Nick & More Inclusive

The service at this resort is phenomenal. We were a large group for spring break and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us with everything scheduling transportation to scheduling excursions.

We had a wonderful stay at the Generations resort hotel. We traveled with a one year old for the first time out of the US and all went well considering a couple challenges with our baby having bug bites and developing bad diaper rash coming in from Dallas. The staff was absolutely super and accommodating in every way! The room was outfitted with a crib for us as requested prior to our stay. When we checked in they gave us a card to check off any other baby amenities we wanted for the room, like a changing table, baby bath tub, stroller, sanitizer and etc. That was very nice and considerate for those seeking a much needed vacation with your child. Everything checked was brought to the room immediately. Our 20 mo. old child slept great in the partitioned living room section with the crib provided. Even though our room was on the 2nd level (a infinity swim up room), it was not too loud to nap during the middle of the day. We enjoyed the big room and personal swim up space immensely. We had a great view of the sea, pool and palms right in front of us. You can also hear the waves at all times but not pool noise as much, which was perfect. The room was quite spacious with two tables and lots of space for storage of luggage and personal clothing and toiletries. I very much liked the robes and shoes provided. We come to Mexico at least once a year and we like to visit different resorts and are not members of the hotel clubs. Still the concierges and staff never made us feel less than a member at any point. We even had our room cleaned and were given turn down service, even with the baby nightly. They were all gracious and helped us with anything and everything we needed whenever we visited their lounge or spoke to butlers running around. This was very much appreciated! The staff even went around the resort so we could get items for our baby who had bad diaper rash, including baking soda for the baby bath and intensive diaper cream. They were always extra sweet to us and researched down anything we were even curious about. All of the concierges were very nice but our go to guy was, LUIS!! He was a 5 star employee all the way! The resort needs to do what it can to keep him. He was soo friendly and would walk us to wherever we needed to go, greet our son all the time and picked him up and acted like our boy was his. He went above and beyond and made us feel comfortable asking him for help with everything! He never seemed frustrated with us or tired of us either over the 7 days we were at the resort! The food was really good and pretty gourmet. We never went hungry. I know some Americans like giant portions of food and don't like petite portions, but when traveling in Mexico at all inclusive restaurants the portions are sometimes a little smaller because you can order 4-5 courses (appetizers, soup/salad, entree, and desserts). Just returned from a week in Paradise! We traveled with over 90 people to celebrate my son's wedding. The rooms were beautiful, clean and HUGE! Staff was so accommodating!!! Special shout out to Isabel and Diego at Concierge, Arturo the food service manager, Martin, the bar manager and Gloria the wedding coordinator. The girls at the spa did an amazing job on hair and make-up for the wedding!!!The beach area was small and not really swimable because of the seaweed, but that is to be expected at this time of year. The pool area was perfect! Plenty of chairs, luxurious towels and great bar service! We would have enjoyed a casual dining selection at the pool area. There is a grill area by the pool, but it is only used on Thursday, Friday and Saturday where ceviche is served. Although it was delicious, a burger or grilled chicken or salads would have been a great idea! The only lunch options are sit down, so we needed to leave the pool area, dry off and get dressed to get a quick bite. Dinner options are very limited at Generations. It is wonderful to be able to go to Casitas or El Dorado for dinner, but if there are young children in the group, that isn't an option.

This place is more beautiful than the pictures. But beyond that, they do so many things extremely well. The service from arrival to leaving is absolutely fantastic. No one ever seems to be expecting tips although we did tip regularly. But the service is incredibly friendly and they want to take care of all your needs. The breakfast buffet each morning is absolutely fantastic and high quality food. I consider myself to have high food standards and I would say most of the dinners are very good. The Indian place, Haab, is easily the best restaurant at Generations. The Indian food there is as good if not better than you will get in any Indian restaurant where you live. The Mexican fiesta night is a must attend and the food is wonderful. Palms for lunch is okay and was probably the weak link overall but you can't beat the views. We stayed in a three room suite with connecting rooms on either side where the grandparents stayed. It was truly a fantastic and easy experience with a young child in tow. The "More Inclusive" thing really provided great benefits. The complimentary Aqua Nick, Maroma, and Bonanza (no horse riding) experiences were amazing to be included. The beach at the resort is limited in terms of being able to go in the water, pretty rocky. But Maroma is one of the nicer beaches you will visit.

my review is not for Generations the resort (we stayed their in 2023 and El Dorado this year) but for Andres - the concierge over at Generations. Andres was our concierge in 2023. We became friends and have kept in touch throughout the year. Although we stayed on Royale this time, Andres made time to come over to see us, and us over to see him at Generations. While he was not my concierge this time, he went above and beyond helping me with some reservations I needed as well as answering a ton of questions I had throughout the year. Andres is a friend! If you are lucky enough to get him as your concierge, you will not be disappointed.

The staff could not be nicer or more willing to help. Everyone goes out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. The restaurants are incredible for an all inclusive. The drinks are delicious. We brought our baby and they had everything we needed at the resort - a crib/monitor/etc. It’s not a big resort, but if you are looking for a short relaxing vacation, this is great!

Came this week for a wedding. They had weddings daily and multiple of them. This resort is super small. They would have parties/receptions at night and it would be loud music all night till at least11-12am. All rooms surround the pool. Music played all day there. There was no true peace and relaxing unless it was the beach. But they have So much concrete and sand bars that you can’t even enjoy the water nor can you even get in without stepping on rocks there was hardly anybody who was able to enjoy the beach water. No ocean swim at all. The food was subpar. The breakfast buffet was ok but lunch and dinner The portions were extremely small, literaly they gave me a third of a corn on the cob, about 8-10 fries and 4 tiny ribs with hardly any meat. and the drinks were watered down unless you asked for more alcohol. If it wasn’t for us being able to use El Dorado’s restaurants, we would not have had any decent dinners. The wedding dinner was much nicer go figure they paid more. The front entrance lobby is very mediocre. There’s not a great welcome there. It does not feel like paradise when you arrive. The one great thing was the staff. This place needs a total overhaul.

Diego was the best!!!! Give him a raise!! He gave us the best experience I. The world and the hotels bed were so comfy. And I love how the trip was all expenses paid.thw Bali beds we the best things to lay on watching the sunrise or sunset. All of the restaurants had some of the best food I've ever had in my life. This whole experience is a trip of a lifetime and I can't wait to come back for another exciting trip to generations Riviera Maya!

Check in was lacking any information even when we were told “butler” would help. The front lobby had no one to greet us or bell hop. Time was limited when available to ask for help. Check in map and amenities were not explained. We found most restaurants were hard to get into. Most workers were texting on mobile devices vs providing services. Highlight was drivers between resorts who went out of their way to stop, help or provide info. Don’t recommend for the cost to make a reservation.
