"I had a great time using the outdoor hot springs. At night, the heat pump setting indicator was so small that I didn't even realize it was on the air conditioner and had a hard time. I also didn't know a kerosene heater was provided. It seems like they never leave Japanese equipment broken down."

"Located in the Kuju Plateau, it's cool even in the summer. The accommodations are old, but they have a charming atmosphere. The view from the hot springs is great. However, the hot spring facilities are old and seem to need remodeling. Since meals were included, I ordered yakiniku, and the staff were very friendly. In particular, the person who took my picture, who seemed to be the manager, greeted me with a smile. Thank you for taking such good pictures."

"i wouldnt hestitate staying here if i was passing through to see mt.aso again. granted there was only 1 other guest in my room which made it comfortable/quiet so i wouldnt be sure with a packed house. the receptionist "mama" was so cutesy!!!"

"A small and cosy hotel. Comes with hot spring voucher for you to enjoy the bath. About 10mins walk to the street with restaurant. Plenty of parking available and is free. Staff will use a translator to explain all the details of the hotel."

"I stayed here for the hot springs. While most Nagayu hot springs seem to have their own source, Yamanoyu Kazuyo's landlady told me that it's probably the hottest source temperature in the Nagayu hot springs. The water is gray-green and cloudy, made of magnesium-sodium bicarbonate. The two indoor baths are a little hotter, at around 44 and 42 degrees Celsius, so you can't soak for long periods of time. The hot spring water flows from the rocks in front of the door to the open-air bath, and it was a scorching 48 degrees. The open-air bath was lukewarm, at around 36 and 37 degrees Celsius, so I was able to relax and enjoy a long soak. I soaked in the hot springs in the evening, night, and morning. I heard that the magnificent rocks in the indoor bath were brought from Bungo-Ono. The rocks and floors were beautifully shaped by hot spring deposits. The landlady was friendly, the hot springs were great, and the rooms were clean, so I was very satisfied with my stay."
