I was on a rare month break in between leaving one and starting another job so had all October off - I booked this hotel as it was relatively near where my son is based and I thought I would treat myself to a spa break. My overall view is that this hotel is dated and staff need serious training. On check in, with a few other people in front of me, I was given room 214. After carrying my case up some very weathered looking carpeted stairs and walking down a long corridor, I found the said room, but my key didnt work. I decided to leave my heavy case outside the room and traipsed all the way back to reception, where the girl on the check in gave me another card. Attempt 2 to access room 214 was even more eventful: as I pushed the door open I was met be a man already in the room! Luckily he was fully clothed! I profusely apologised and he kindly offered to accompany me back to reception. On presenting for a 2nd time and explaining this rather embarassing situation, the girl behind he desk was clearly rattled and started to check the computer...no apologies at this stage. She then left the desk and came back with another room key for me, room 202. She then apologised. Room 202 was opposite the laundry room and so first thing in the morning was very noisy. Also very thin walls as I could hear every conversation the guy in 201 was having with his partner. The room was furnished reasonably well but bathroom was tired and had mould on the ceiling which had been painted over to try and hide it. I tried to access the spa on day 1 and my key would work so I had to rely on another guest to let me in. The breakfast was reasonable however and staff were polite. I have no idea why only some cooked meals are included and some are not - all breakfast should be included. All in all, not a 4* hotel in my view

Stayed here for a long weekend organised by a car club. We were a large group and therefore had the use of a function room for breakfasts and two evening meals. The building, and grounds, are very impressive upon arrival as was the welcome at reception. The weather that weekend was cool and damp and the room was cold upon arrival. Our room (109) was bijou and did not have a safe or air con (bearing in mind that this is rated 4star)! The bathroom had been modified with a glass shower screen on the bath which leaked and was fixed in position such that it made it very difficult to enter or exit the bath. Despite adjusting the radiator, we never had heating for the whole of our stay. On top of that, the “hot” water was tepid for that first evening and next mornings shower. We reported these issues and was informed that there were problems with the boilers. Breakfasts were hit & miss with luke warm food, a tea urn with stewed tea and one toaster for 50+ people! Things did improve with breakfasts but only really became acceptable on the last day. The group evening meal, that we attended, which was pre selected, was very average and I left most of my three courses! We were due to attend the second group meal but we, like many others, opted for the restaurant instead which was much better but they did run out of major items. In general, the hotel seemed to be struggling with staffing levels, especially in the bar with long queues at pre meal drinks. Most of the staff were pleasant and helpful but a few should not be in the hospitality industry. I took the trouble of making a formal complaint and refused to pay the final invoice, on departure, until our issues were dealt with. Within days of arriving home I received a detailed apology from the the management and a credit against the final invoice which I then paid. This hotel has the possibility of being 4Star but, apart from the Spa, is in need of considerable investment in many areas.

Comfortable room overlooking fields. Noisy wedding party dominated the public areas but clearly that wasn't the fault of the hotel. Excellent dinner. Recommend the Confit duck and the hake. Pleasant, helpful staff. Ample parking. Would stay again, but not at the weekend.

On first impression seems ok but unfortunately doesn’t live up to its star rating and has many problems. The room was very dated, worn and the bathroom was dirty and not cleaned each day. I have included a picture of the shower and this is not wet, it is dirt and mould. Additionally the water was cold in the shower and despite complaining each day wasn’t fixed. Also no brush to clean the toilet and it was not cleaned when room was made up. Bed had sheets with holes, see picture. Breakfast was hopeless as they couldn’t keep up with demand and the cooked items on heated trays when it was there was nearly cold and made worse by no heated plates. Very poor selection of other items. All made worse by one of our group had jewellery stolen from their room. On the positive side the spa was very nice and in good order. Jacuzzi could have been hotter but overall very nice. Booking required and extra if not in a spa room. Plenty of parking.

Our party was four adults, this was a whistle stop for us as a one night stay early on into a UK roadtrip vacation. We arrived at the same time as a large wedding party (yikes!) and yet we were dealt with quickly and efficiently. All the staff from reception to the dining room and spa were helpful and very friendly. The rooms were fine for what we needed. Our evening meals were OK too - not quite fine dining but quite adequate; I had the Hake. One of our party had a birthday that night and the staff came out with a cake and a song. Breakfast seemed good (I do not participate myself, but the others do) and the dining room was very busy in the morning. For us, this is a very convenient location, from the outside the manor house looks wonderful, the interior decor in communal areas is very nice too, as are the grounds. The spa facilities that we made good use of were of a high standard although one of the rooms was turned off during our visit, which caused a mild odour. Overall, Hatherley Manor was a pleasant stop for us - parking at the venue was easy, the staff were great, and our stay was trouble free.

The staff and the food were excellent but the hotel is beginning to be a little shabby in places. The radiator in my bedroom didn't work as it was a little chilly in the evening and I was cold so I decided to give a shower a miss the following morning.

We had building works going on in our house and needed to escape for a couple of days for rest and relaxation. Hatherley manor spa hotel most definitely ticked these boxes. From the moment we checked in to our luxurious executive spa bedroom we knew we had picked the right place. Sumptuous super king bed fluffy white towels and bathrobes and fantastic views Elemis toiletries. We spent a relaxing afternoon in the spa beautiful pool jacuzzi and trepadariums which we loved. The sauna, steam room and experience showers added were amazing. We enjoyed an amazing meal and rose wine included in our package and all staff from reception dining room and spa were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also brilliant and exceeded our expectations of a continental breakfast that was expected. The eggs Benedict were divine. The 11am checkout concluded our stay and we returned home relaxed and ready to face the builders!!! Yes there are parts of the hotel that are in need of attention considering the age of the building but the overall experience outweighed this.

Booked an afternoon tea to treat my Dad and family on father's day so obviously wanting a special time. Apart from a table finishing their lunch we were literally the only table throughout the experience so no atmosphere. Hot drinks eventually arrived with bright red lipstick on my son's latte mug - how it wasn't spotted when the drink was made is beyond me. We waited for staff to appear and replace the drink and eventually went to reception ourselves to ask for a replacement. When the waitress arrived with the afternoon tea she dropped all of the macaroons on the floor. Hoping the ones she appeared with a minute later weren't the same ones! None of the cakes looked homemade- I did expect something a bit more special from a hotel. The brioche buns were terribly hard and stale - whoever filled them must have realised. I had ordered one afternoon tea without meat and even phoned the day before to confirm that the venue was aware of this - on the day when I checked the hotel said they hadn't been told! (It was on my booking confirmation). At no point did any staff come and ask if everything was okay or offer further hot drinks. We honestly didn't see any staff once we'd been served. Really disappointing experience and such a shame when trying to celebrate a special occasion

Had a lovely room, clean and great decor. The building amazing but thought the walkway to rooms needs a bit of sparkle Great meal in the restaurant. Outside needs some TLC Staff amazing couldn’t do anymore Ashtrays needed around the outside because there are no ashtrays or bins because people do still smoke
