The room facing the lake is very quiet. It provides free self-service laundry service and free laundry detergent. It is about a 5-minute walk to the town center.

A very good hotel with all the facilities. The scenery is very beautiful. There is a lake view right outside. There is a Chinese restaurant nearby. They even serve soy milk and fried dough sticks for breakfast.

We stayed 2 nights January 2024. What a nice place to stay! A very warm welcome from Kerri, and an introducing to our room. The room was with 2 bedrooms, we traveled as family, nice and clean. The kitchenette was with things we needed for preparing breakfast. Good and comfortable beds, nice view to the Lake Te Anau. We asked for recommended restaurants and Kerri was nice to show us places for dinner and drew on a map where to go. Excellent service and great hospitality from the management. Our best recommendations to Radfords on the Lake
Response from Property: Thank you so much for your kind words. We are so thrilled you enjoyed your stay, snf enjoyed our recommendations for dining and exploring Fiordland. It is such a special area, and we hope we can welcome you back again soon to explore even more! Thank you again for choosing to stay with us, it was wonderful to take care of your family. Kindest Regards Kerri and Steve

Superbly appointed accommodation and lovely view of the lake. All the staff were great too! Fairly short level walk into town so easy to get to cafes, restaurants and shops. Plenty of parking at the Radfords and in town. Te Anau is a great location to head off into Fjordland - less than an hour to the reserve and only 90 minutes to Milford Sound.
Response from Property: Thank you for staying with us Ian and your kind words, you were delightful guests to host and so pleased you enjoyed your time here with us. I hope you have many fond memories of your time in Fiordland. Again thank you for choosing to stay at Radfords. Safe travels and Kindest Regards Kerri and Steve

We spent one night at Radfords on the Lake before heading to Milford Sound. Kerri was wonderful to deal with and gave us great suggestions for food and entertainment. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. Would highly recommend staying here.

Great place, nicely furnished and fully equipped - even has a charger cable, tealight candles and anti-bacterial wipes. We loved the two-person spa and the fluffy towels which were replenished daily. Also good tea selection. the hotel is right across the road from the lake and we specifically booked a room with a lakeview. Kerri is super friendly and helpful and gives excellent recommendations for restaurants and activities - we particularly loved her suggestion for the Cascade Creek walk. We would love to come back again next year and would certainly stay at Radfords.

My wife & I loved out 4 night stay at Radfords! The location, room, setting & facilities were all great. Kerri was super helpful with other arrangements & recommendations while we were in Fiordland National Park which made our trip even more special. We also took advantage of their loaner bikes as well as the kitchen, grilling & patio area for cooking up a tasty meal. If you're able to stay at Radfords on the Lake, you'll be pleased with your choice

Kerri is an excellent host. She seems to be always there! The suite was lovely. Clean, plenty of room. The continental breakfast was refreshed each day. It was easy to walk anywhere in town, and to the kayaking place. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend!
Response from Property: Dear Lay, Thank you for your very kind words and choosing to stay with us. We are delighted you enjoyed your time here as we enjoyed hosting you. Wishing you safe travels and Kindest Regards Kerri and Steve

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Radford’s. Our accommodation was very comfortable and well- equipped, with a lovely view of the lake. Kerri was an amazing host. Her local knowledge was invaluable. We had a great time on the tours that she recommended, and her instructions on how and when to get there were spot-on. Her suggestions regarding local eateries were greatly appreciated too. Thank you so much for your hospitality and your help Kerri.
Response from Property: Thank you so much for your kind words! We are trilled to hear that you enjoyed your experience with us. We strive to provide exceptional service, and it means a lot to us to know that we succeeded in making your visit memorable. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back again soon. Safe travels and Kindest Regards Kerri and Steve

Just had an amazing 2 nights at this beautiful place. The location is stunning with views over the lake. Patio doors lead out onto patio area or balcony. Parking right outside. Easy walk to town. Our welcome was warm and inviting. Room was pristine. Could have eaten off the floor. Beautiful decor. I felt like I was at home. Every detail thought out. Fresh milk, tea/coffee. Chocolates. Bathroom products. Loved the compostable shower cap. Dishwasher, 2 ring hob, kettle, toaster, microwave. Access to laundry facilities. Could have stayed longer. Dexter, the rag doll, wandered in when we arrived and settled on the bed between the pillows. He showed no sign of wanting to leave and when we got back he’d moved to the sofa under the heater. Such a character. Can’t recommend Radfords highly enough.

We had a very enjoyable 3 night stay at Radfords. Our room faced the road and beach - no traffic noise at night. The room was clean, attractive, nice linens, very easy to walk to the beach or into town! Our cooktop did not work - within minutes Kerri found a hot plate for us to use! If we are able to return to NZ we would stay at Radfords again in a heartbeat!!

Delighted with the position of the accommodation ideally positioned for the lake and its facilities with an excellent choice of restaurants and cafés within a short walk. As far as the welcome, service and genuine friendliness we would rank this higher than other similar types of accommodation. The decor and quality of furnishings were first class with a well thought out array of tech devices for travellers. We enjoyed restful sleep in the very comfortable bed. Good advice was given freely for recommendations and we enjoyed many of those restaurants and the nearby seaplane. Well done to the proprietors and their staff for giving their all to our holiday.

I have been to Te Anau on two prior trips (early January 2017 and 2020) and always wanted to stay here given its reviews. However, lodging in the town is often nearly fully booked more than a month out. On my first trip, I had to use Airbnb. On this trip, I was excited when I was able to book a room in Radfords on the Lake. However, the day before my flight, Air New Zealand cancelled our flight from North America making our road trip impossible given ferry reservations. Kerri, the owner, graciously cancelled my reservation without fee despite being just inside the non-refundable 14-day window. We did manage to book a new trip to New Zealand a couple months later months in March and were happy to stay at Radfords. Kerri was very personable and remembered us from prior phone calls. Our one bedroom suite was nice and comfortable after a somewhat long drive from Wanaka. The hotel has laundry facilities, which we took advantage of. The hotel is located right next to the lake with the town center a few blocks away. Most people are passing through Te Anau to visit Milford Sound and it’s a good stop for two nights to break up the drive. This gives you more time to enjoy the area around Milford Sound, potential to wait for better weather and do some hikes along the way, such as Key Summit. On my first trip, I caught the first cruise of the day on Milford sound and followed it up in the afternoon with a kayak trip the length of the sound. My second trip was a night between completing the Routeburn Track and starting the Milford Track. Of the four days, I spent in Milford Sound one was raining and you could only briefly see the peaks. This also roughly aligns with my four days on the Milford track where one day it poured rain and another day was cloudy obstructing peaks. In summary, if going to Milford Sound spend a night or two in Te Anau to have a better chance at having a good experience when visiting Milford Sound. When I return to Te Anau (likely winter to see the classic snow on Mitre Peak), the first place I would look to stay would be Radfords on the Lake.

The number 1 hotel in Te Anau probably doesn’t need another 5 star review, but I’m writing one anyway. Our king studio is wonderful. Large sliding glass doors face the lake. The kitchen has everything we need or want. The bed is large and comfy. The bathroom is also large, and everything seems brand new. I think every apartment has the same great lake view, and it’s a short walk to restaurants, grocery stores, and everything else in Te Anau. Huge thank you to Kerri for being so nice and helpful.
