Horrible..they. turn the air off before 7 when uts only on 9pm to 7am. This is one step above camping. The shower can't get the soap from your hair let alone your body. No tv..no cooler..very little curtain privacy..you can't use your hairdryer..the sister hotel is equally as bad. The pool is a dirty concrete hole. They do have beach access but it's a 20 walk or more to the other end of the zone. They were suppose to pick us up at the airport and that didn't happen either. All the way around I wouldn't recommend staying unless you like camping on vacation. If you like jungle camping and that's what you came here for than by all means great place for you. Does have good location. Nothing else

The staff was very friendly. I especially want to say thanks to Gonzalo. He was so helpful in getting us from Cozumel to the hotel. He provided the information for taxi and for the ferry. The hotel is in the perfect spot for shopping, dining and having fun. The hotel kept having issues with their power so it kept going out even during the night and it was hot. Having the pool and beach at their sister property was great. It was an easy 20 minute walk.

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. It is in a wonderful location. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. The beach is across the street. There were a few not so positive reviews. I almost didn’t book because of the negativity. Sure glad I did book. I would highly recommend Casa Ambar. The room is large and clean. The WI-FI is a little spotty but all of Tulum has this problem. Put your devices down and enjoy the scenery. The property across the street from Casa Ambar gave me beach access. It was a short walk of less than a mile to the sister hotel. The sister hotel also offers parking if you do not want to walk. They offered me a beach longe chair and access to the pool. Towels were given at the office. I gave my room key to the reception. The key was given back when I returned the towels. Casa Amber also offers access to a Cenote. The Cenote was at another sister property. It was a remote Cenote down a beautiful path. Kayaks were available. The hotel was affordable with much to offer. Staff was super helpful and friendly.

Me and friends were staying in Playa Del Carmen and decided to take an overnight trip to Tulum. We booked Casa Ambar same day and glad we did. Price was great and we knew we were going to be out most of day and night so wasn’t trying to spend a lot. Location was amazing. Walkable to all the spots we were planning to go to. Gonzolo greeted us at checkin and right away gave us recommendations and all we needed to know about this eco friendly hotel. Beach is across the street but you get access through their sister hotel down block and also get access to a Cenote which we didn’t have time to check out as we were there just one night. Also hotel runs solar power and then generator so AC is 9pm-7am but was cool enough with Fan during day. You also can’t use hair dryer or irons. So make sure you like your beach wave hair and clothes are good to wear as is. I loved the authenticness of this hotel as Tulum has been taken over by luxe hotels. We stayed in King suite with Balcony that had jungle views. We saw a family of monkeys pass over the trees which really helped us feel the Tulum vibes. Location was perfect and Gonzalo recommended we go to the Mia Beach Club and it was just the scene we were looking for and only a 5min walk from hotel. Had dinner at Rosa Negra which was across the street as well. Overall we recommend if you are like us and want an Authentic Tulum expierence. Thanks Casa Ambar!

Starting off my review, I would like to mention that the hotel is still being built. There is a lot of construction work onsite. Basically, the hotel front desk and one building with guest rooms are ready to welcome visitors so far, but even they are not completely finished yet. Anyway, after spending a week at this hotel I can confidently say that this hotel has all the opportunities to become something fabulous if they plan and make everything smart and responsibly. I want to mention the hotel’s location is great if you want to stay at the heart of Tulum Beach. Plus, you are literally surrounded by the jungle, and very close to Mother Nature! All the famous and major Tulum bars, restaurants and clubs are super close to the hotel. The beach is right across the street. Unfortunately, there isn’t a short cut from the hotel to the beach. You have to walk by the main road for like 2 minutes to a place called “Ahau”, and beach access for everybody is right through this Beach Club. By the way, this is one of my absolutely favorite Beach Clubs in Tulum. I totally recommend renting a bed there (I paid 500 Pesos or $27 for all day rent, food and drink credit is not included) and hang out all day long. Coming back to the hotel, the front desk is located outside. It is small, but very cute. Still not completely finished like I mentioned earlier. The guys who work on the front desk were sweet. The issue with them was poor communication in English, because none of them spoke English very well. But luckily, we always found a way to understand each other. Another issue with the hotel staff was no security guard. Basically, these cute little front desk boys (who looked like 20-25 y.o.) did the security job at the same time. That is not real security, and any stranger can easily get to the hotel site because the hotel’s main gate is always open. The thing I really liked was the opportunity to always communicate with the hotel staff through WhatsApp (you can find WhatsApp number on the official hotel’s Web-site). They answered me pretty quickly every single time when I asked for something. Also, the hotel is ready to provide a transfer from/to Cancun airport. As I remember, the price was U.S. $170 for 2 persons. But me and my friend did not use this option. Now about my room. I booked a Deluxe King Size Jungle View Room with Balcony (I got Room #6) and in general I liked it, especially its design which was represented in classic Tulum Style. They decorated the room very nicely, it felt amazingly comfortable there, I wanted to be there! I would not change anything from a design aspect. I would concentrate more on a facilities aspect. For example, there was no refrigerator in my room. And it was very upsetting, because it was hot in the room all the time. The air conditioner did not work 24 h. They only turned it on for night hours (you can find this information on the official Web-site). Plus, I believe that the air conditioner in my room did not work well and n

The resort is somewhat rustic, but beautifully decorated. Looks like it is straight out of architectural digest with the whitewashed pallet and elegant décor of art and antiques. I really enjoyed all the great photo ops. The staff do not speak much English, however, they were very gracious and helpful. The check in reception area is open air and they no longer offer breakfast, however, they have a screened off communal kitchen area with beautiful tile work if you need to make food preparation, get more drinking water, or keep something refrigerated. Resort is solar powered with occasional back up generator use. Electricity and Wi-Fi will be spotty at times. We observed the potable water truck filling up the holding tanks, which was reassuring, I could smell chlorine in the water coming through the pipes, which is always a good thing in Tulum. The locks on the room doors are super rustic and not very user-friendly, could possibly have made me uneasy if I had been a woman traveling alone. My husband and I shared a tower room among the jungle tree tops, and our 18-year-old daughters shared another room on the ground floor. Security was good and we felt safe. The staff are good people. Rooms were cleaned daily. This place is one of the best deals we found in Tulum. Beach right across the street but you must enter through a restaurant or beach club. Tulum Beach/ HOTEL zone is very expensive/muy caro! Do not dine at restaurants without listed prices! Our only real complaint here was that the employee at the hotel reception recommended Ohua for breakfast, which has beautiful beach views but very average food, we had oa**eal, eggs, coffee, and bottled water and our tab for 4 people was over US$300! There were no listed prices on the menu, so we figured it wouldn’t be cheap, but we were quite blown away/dehumanized by this bill! After learning this lesson, I would still say that I would happily stay at Casa Ambar, Tulum again, in the future!
