Maka Hotel Boutique

I absolutely loved my stay at Maka Hotel! I can with a group of friends to celebrate my 50th bday and we booked almost all the rooms there! They treated us like family! Isaac and the staff went above and beyond for us! They keep the rooms and the hotel impeccably clean! The beds and pillows are very comfortable. All the rooms are slightly different which is nice. Some have small Kitchenette’s, some have a seating area, some just regular with bed and bathroom. As I said we had most of the hotel booked and all the rooms had a nice view when you can put your room. The hotel vibe and esthetics are so dope! Plenty of insta-worthy pics taken here! The pool area is very nice and I loved all of the lush plant life surrounding it! Immerses you into “jungle” The Libby is such a vibe too! Watch your step as you enter lol or you’ll have wet feet! The roof top lounge, restaurant, and juice bar are all good! I would absolutely stay here again without hesitation. Already looking at flights to come back again soon and this is where we will stay. I was told they are remodeling some rooms and will add a few more so that’s cool. One was like a “penthouse” style which I’d that’s the car will be so amazing! The location of the hotel is perfect. Just off the main road. Close to tons of restaurants, shopping, clubs, convenient stores. All walkable. Isaac arranged transportation for my group of 15 with a driver who used throughout our stay. Hated to leave! It was just that incredible!!!

We booked a 6-bed for a week and the room was perfect in every way, the staff was extremely helpful, and the vibe of the whole place just helped set the mood for our time in Tulum. It was close to a supermarket, the city center, the highways to Chichen Itza and Playa Del Carmen, Playa Paraiso, a gas station, and the best restaurants we tried (which the staff recommended to us).

I recommend this place! They do like to party so if you’re trying to relax and sleep this might not be the place for you. Everyone was nice and friendly! Rooms were super clean! Also, very central location.

Having scoured Trip advisor to find the best spot myself and a friend chose Maka Hotel and it did not disappoint. From start to finish we had the trip of a lifetime. We stayed for 11 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. We stayed in an XL room and it was fantastic - amazing vibe, extremely clean (towels and sheets changed everyday), and incredibly welcoming staff. The food served poolside and upstairs in the restaurant / bar area was fantastic. The hotel is in downtown (authentic Tulum with great spots to eat) and we travelled around downtown, and to both the public beach (beautiful beaches and ruins) and private beach (beach clubs / influencer territory) by bicycle which took around 20 mins. The hotel has parking for bikes and scooters and are happy to provide details for a tour company (To arrange trips like chichin Itza, cenotes, snorkelling etc). To be aware: there is no full length mirror in the rooms if selfies are your thing. The hotel does have a hair drier and rooms are supplied with fresh towels and great hand soaps, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Other reviews indicate the loud club music. It is true that the hotel plays music until 3am 3 times a week but as this is techno (without lyrics) I ended up finding this similar to white noise which was easy to sleep through. I wouldn’t change the club / music as that is what draws people into the hotel and is a great way to meet new people and adds to the vibe. Similar to this the hotel offers dorm rooms which is great to meet backpackers / solo travellers. If meeting people is your thing Che Hostel is a 2 minute walk away where there is a huge party vibe every day of the week. The pool at Maka does get some sun but isn’t exposed all day. We paid to use the pool (180 pesos spent at the bar) 2 doors down at mimosa when we were not at the beach/when the Maka pool was in shade. Finally a huge thanks to Maka for looking after us and for contributing to such a life changing trip. A home away from home.

Great place, amazing vibes. Staff was wonderful and the food was awesome. Great concept right in the city you can actually experience some of the local culture. Def better than any all inclusive resort there. Had a great time would def be back!!

I could enjoy staying here with nature, good to stay nearby the pool.

The overall ambience was everything, So peaceful. Its more like a hostel not a hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly. Room cleaned daily. Food (breakfast) was excellent. They have great smoothies and veggie drinks. Alot of construction going on in the surrounding areas but dont be detered. Theocation

The design of this hotel is very nice. The common area, pool and bar area are top notch. The rooms are smaller and you pay for the overall design of the hotel. The photo of the room was very accurate, so I was expecting a smaller place. It was comfortable with air conditioning and comfortable mattress. The bar area is very nice, I thought the drinks were a little overpriced at 250 pesos for a cocktail. The area of the hotel is close to the main drag of downtown and close enough to walk to the grocery stores. If you want a more normal size room and maybe a little less style, there are other options in this price range in the downtown. If the pictures sell you on this hotel, then book here.

A great place to stay on a budget in Tulum. They offer shared dorms and private rooms for every kind of traveler. Upon entering the design is thought-provoking and the vibe is tranquil. A true getaway from the party-fueled beach front properties. The staff are kind, helpful, and courteous. The rooms themselves are immaculate: clean, fabulous design, soft comfortable beds, towels, and lockers. I absolutely loved it here and would return!
