Absolutely amazing stay! The hotel was exceptional! Service was top class, loved all the details of the hotel! Drinks and Food was so delish! Views were amazing! Will be back!

Check in as always was friendly and very quick. We were even met by Ashwin which was very nice. The decorations inside and outside we very festive, they really get into the Christmas spirit. The rooms as always were very clean, and the housekeeping staff are very friendly. The weather was not all that great so we had limited time by the pool, but the time we did have there was always someone around. Shout out to Josh who was always making sure everyone was taken care of. We had Christmas lunch in the Grill Room which was exceptional. The food, service and entertainment we first class. Breakfasts as always the food is amazing. A special thank you to Sebastian and Zodwa the Breakfast manager. Then to Nicolene, if they could take that ladies attitude and service and apply it to everyone, there is no way that anyone could ever complain. She was always on had, always friendly and nothing was ever to much trouble. Now the reason for the 4 and not 5 stars. We have had issues on our previous visits and again on this one. Those have now been addressed directly with the hotel management in detail. So we shall see going forward what happens. It definitely will not stop us from returning in the future. We cannot let a few things/people take away from what is an amazing place that really takes you away from the real world while you are there.

Stayed here for 7 days following a hectic couple of weeks on safari in nearby countries. From the moment we arrived to when we departed we were made to feel special by the wonderful staff. We had a luxury sea facing room, and the views were spectacular. The room was extremely comfortable, and on the day we checked-in we were greeted by a bottle of bubbly and cakes in recognition of my wife’s 60th birthday. Breakfast’s were delicious, with a huge selection of food to meet all tastes. Oysters and bubbly were a favourite with me. Many thanks to all the wonderful staff for making our stay so memorable. There are too many wonderful staff to name individuals. However, I must mention Zodwa, who introduced me to breakfasts of oysters and bubbles for breakfast! I thoroughly recommend a stay at this great hotel.

We traveled as a family of three over my wife's birthday and our wedding anniversary to KZN and stayed two nights at the Oyster Box before moving onto our next destination. The experience was absolutely incredible - from the special treats in our room when checking in to the out-of-this-world staff encounters we had. A special mention has to go to Dorothy who when she heard our daughter was struggling to find a specific colour braids back home, she surprised us the next day by finding it at her local market. Nox at the Kids Club is a gem with a permanent smile on her face and 24/7 energy which is impressive dealing with kids all day :) The hotel also went out of their way to accommodate us for a last-minute High Tea reservation with friends who live in Durban. Michael's service, smile and engagement with our children during High Tea was something we've never experienced! The hotel, rooms, food, etc is what drew us to The Oyster Box but the staff is what will have us return again.

What a lovely way to celebrate our 35th Wedding Anniversary with a High Tea experience in the Palm Court! Nombulo was so attentive and the rest of the staff we spoke to all added to a couple of magical hours. Good food, excellent service and really pleasant background music from the pianist. Thank you to the whole team and especially the chefs behind the scenes for making our afternoon one to remember.

Thank you to the OBH. I have never experienced such kindness, caring and help from soo many people after having an unexpexted surgery. From Mr Rosa, All Managers, Theo, Danny, Krishan, Britney, Nicole, Julian, Vinesh, Ruby, Pumi, just to mention a few of all the staff. Outstanding excellence of service continuously. Grateful thanks to everyone! Not forgetting a magnificent bouquet of flowers on my return from the hospital. Bless You All!

The service that was provided by the gentleman named Percy on the 09.05.2024 during our high tea experience was supermagondovious. we were well taken care of. he was present and never left our sight. I'm going to recommend Oyster Box to friends and family.

Stayed for 4 luxurious nights at the end of our South African adventures. Were spoiled by impeccable service from staff who couldn't do enough for you or make you more welcome and at home. Comfortable loungers round the pool and plenty of shade, if required. We thoroughly enjoyed all our meals, but the curry buffet and high tea are a must if you're in the area.

At the outset, I must admit that I am a biased reviewer, because I love The Oyster Box Hotel, and am a fairly regular visitor. However, in mid March my wife and I were guests, rather than visitors, and spent three nights there, celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. We were warmly welcomed and pampered from the outset, and made to feel very special, including finding treats and a bottle of bubbly in our room. Our favourite space is the outside terrace, with its stunning sea views, and the iconic lighthouse, which is almost a part of the hotel. We spent much time there. The hotel is now in the very capable hands of the excellent Roberto Rosa. He has a fantastic complement of staff. Right up there at the top is the debonair and affable Justin Botha - the perfect person to lead customer relations. He really made us feel like VIPs. We enjoyed all the facilities, and highlights were drinks with friends at The Lighthouse Bar, relaxing in the library, a celebration dinner in The Grill Room, and a wonderful body massage at The Spa. There are too many staff members to mention for their care, pampering and concern, but standouts include George, who heads The Grill Room, and Lethu, Zinhle, Thobile, Mandisa, Sebastian, Ryan, Richard and William. (My apologies to anyone that I have left out) We left with fabulous memories, and long to return for another five star experience. For us, this is without any shadow of doubt, Durban’s premier hotel.
