A beautiful ryokan that offers a respite from the crowds at the monkey pool. The service was flawless, the food was amazing and the onsen a highlight for my partner. I liked the snow-covered garden and the view of the mountains from my balcony.
Be aware that the ryokan is family friendly so you may be eating your nine-course kaiseki to the sounds of screaming toddlers.

My husband and I spent one night here as part of our honeymoon, and it was such a memorable and unique experience. We took the local bus up and only had to walk a few minutes before reaching the place. The hotel was beautiful, peaceful, clean, and quiet. We booked a private onsen and it was well worth every penny. We also added the dinner and breakfast package, and each of the meals were delicious. Such a special experience that I would highly recommend to anyone who has the opportunity. Also, make sure to try the local apples!

This is a good hotel if you want to be close to the Winter Monkey Park and delicious apple pie by Enza Cafe.

We loved every minute of this hotel. The food was the best we had in Japan. The mountain views were stunning. I also loved the ryokan and indoor/outdoor onsen. Very old school, elegant, and grand hotel steps to Monkey Park. The hotel knows how to cater to westerners yet maintain a Japanese ryokan experience. We will return. Aloha

This is a truly comfortable and in fact elegant ryokan with all amenities desired. The staff is simply wonderful - nice, helpful with very good English language skills. The ryokan itself is very traditional in layout and style but very modern in amenities. Good location close to snow monkey park and Shiga Kogen skiing. All in all a wonderful experience

Small and cute place to be. Once you get to the train station or bus stop, give them a call and they will come pick you up. You can walk if you want, but it does go uphill a little bit if you have suitcase with you. Staff is really nice and accommodating. We did have one of our friends ending up pregnant on the trip after we had booked the trip and she was not able to eat many of the foods. They were really nice and worked with what she could eat and even gave her a little omamori (like a charm) for her healthy and safe pregnancy and birth. Would recommend to others. The individual onsen in each room is wonderful and if you want to have more people gather together, get the bigger rooms. Mt. Fuji is visible but understand that it depends on time of day and season. Due to the smaller space, there is only one area to gather downstairs, which is also where you check in. Not a big deal for us, but for those who wants like a whole area to walk around in the hotel, then may want to look at those bigger hotels.

First of all, the service is very enthusiastic, and the first impression is a plus. It was almost 6 o'clock in the evening when we came to Yudanaka Station from Nagano, and we couldn't get a taxi. Because we didn't make an appointment for the hotel to pick us up, we called the hotel with the idea of trying it and asked if we could pick it up. The hotel immediately agreed to pick us up. The staff at the front desk of the hotel were very good and gave us a detailed introduction to the facilities and services of the hotel and the room. When we met the staff on the road, we would also greet them politely and enthusiastically. The uncle in the restaurant always had a smile and served very thoughtfully, and he knew some Chinese. Secondly, the hotel's food and beautiful scenery, the set meal is exquisite, delicious and filling, and taking pictures is even more suitable for Chinese people who want to make films in their lifetime. Soaking in the hot springs and watching the snowflakes flying all over the sky, the fatigue brought by a day's special forces trip was cured. More feelings need to be experienced by yourself in the hotel. In short, I recommend this hotel very much. I will come again during the cherry blossom season.
