Qianmen Street

Qianmen Street is a very famous commercial street in Beijing. Located on the central axis of the capital, it starts from Qianmen Moon Bay in the north and extends to the Tianqiao intersection in the south, connecting with Tianqiao South Street. In the 29th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty, before the outer city was built, it was the imperial road for the emperor to leave the city for the Temple of Heaven and the Altar of Mountains and Rivers. After the construction of the outer city, it became the main north-south street of the outer city. The common people commonly referred to it as Qianmen Street. The street is 845 meters long and the roadway is 20 meters wide. During the Ming, Qing, and the Republic of China, it was all called Zhengyangmen Street. In 1965, it was officially named Qianmen Street. When you come to Beijing, you must visit Qianmen Street. It is the most representative place of old Beijing.
