Bridge of the ROK-US Alliance, Colonel William Weber's Story of Peace

When the Korean War broke out, Colonel William Weber served as an officer in the 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment of the US Army and participated in major operations such as the Incheon Landing Operation, the recapture of Seoul, and the advance into North Korea. In the Battle of Wonju, Gangwon Province in 1951, he was seriously injured by enemy grenades and mortars, losing his right arm and right leg. However, he led his company to the end, maintaining the morale of his men, and was evacuated only after completing the mission to occupy the high ground. Regarding his wounds, Colonel Weber emphasized, “These wounds are a symbol of my sacrifice for freedom, and I am proud of them.” He was also a symbolic figure of the ROK-US alliance, and he spread the values of peace and freedom through various commemorative projects and educational activities.
