Jiangnan has only three Qing Dynasty shipyards remaining

Picture 1-3 Yujiawan Shipyard, commonly known as the ship shed under the beach. Located in Yujiawan, Yeze Village, Tongli Town, Wujiang District, Suzhou City, it runs east-west, measuring 19.20 meters in length and 5.60 meters in width. The height from the water surface to the top of the shipyard is 3.67 meters. It is supported by 12 granite columns, with wooden beam structures, and topped with butterfly tiles. The surroundings are built with revetments and stone river piers. Picture 4-6 The remains of the Zhu family's ship were discovered in Group 10 of Jiangjing, Daijing Village, Caijia Liao. It is the first semi-submerged site in China that has been formally excavated and is closely related to underwater cultural heritage, dating back to the middle and late Qing Dynasty. Picture 7-9 The Qian family's shipyard is located at No. 12, Rang Alley, Changsheng Village, Ganyao Town. It was built during the Qing Daoguang era by the local tycoon Qian Zhongqiao. The shipyard covers an area of 108 square meters, faces east and west, has four bays, with a total width of 7 meters and a depth of 13 meters. It has a hip-and-gable roof, and the beam frame structure consists of seven beams supported by two columns. The southern stone columns stand in the water for support, with bricks laid on top, while the northern stone columns stand on the revetment, which is built with interlocked granite stones. The first bay in the east is built with bricks for the shipbuilders to live in, and the three bays in the west are for ship mooring. There is one inner river pier and one Ba character-shaped river pier.
