Qianfo Mountain, a tourist attraction in Shandong

Qianfo Mountain Scenic Area, located in the south of Jinan city center, is one of the three major attractions in Jinan. In the Zhou Dynasty, it was called Lishan, and it was said that Yu Shun once farmed under this mountain. Therefore, it is also called Shungeng Mountain. During the Kaihuang period of the Sui Dynasty, many Buddha statues were carved on the mountain and the "Qianfo Temple" was established, hence the name Qianfo Mountain. In 1959, it was transformed into a park. In 1995, Qianfo Mountain was listed as a provincial scenic spot, in 2005 it was rated as a national AAAA tourist attraction, and in 2017 it was listed as a national scenic spot. The Qianfo Mountain Scenic Area covers an area of 151.8 hectares and reaches a maximum altitude of 285 meters. The mountains here are undulating and the scenery is beautiful and magnificent. Liu E, a famous literary scholar of the Qing Dynasty, described it in "The Old Man's Travel Notes": "It seems like a large painting by Zhao Qianli of the Song Dynasty, made into a screen tens of miles long". The historical culture of Qianfo Mountain is very long, with the culture of Yu Shun, Buddhist culture, and natural ecology as the core content. This is a famous mountain where the world's Buddhist culture and imperial culture coexist. Qianfo Mountain is one of the birthplaces of Yu Shun culture. Shun once farmed here and his name was spread all over the world. There are historical sites related to Shun culture in the scenic area, such as Lishan Academy, Shun Temple, Three Saints Hall, Dashun Stone Picture Garden, Lishan Tracing the Source, etc.; the Buddhist culture of Qianfo Mountain can be traced back to the Sui and Tang Dynasties, leaving behind Xingguo Zen Temple, Qianfo Cliff Carvings and other rich Buddhist cultural attractions; Qianfo Mountain has a superior natural environment, with many famous ancient trees, and many natural attractions such as Buddha Mountain Chrysanthemum Viewing, Lishan Landscape, Tang Huaigu, Nanlu Danxia, Ciyun Exploration, etc.; Qianfo Mountain has a distinctive traditional folk culture, with "March 3" folk culture temple fair, "September 9" Chongyang Mountain Meeting and other intangible cultural heritage. In recent years, the Qianfo Mountain Scenic Area has made great progress. Since 2011, it has been improving the environment year by year, strengthening the ecological greening landscape effect, highlighting the historical and cultural main line, and comprehensively improving the overall landscape and cultural taste of the scenic area. In 2013, the Qilu Stele Culture Garden, a Shandong stele culture theme park, was built on the south foot of the mountain; since 2014, in order to vigorously promote Shun culture, Nanfeng Pavilion, Siqin Pavilion, Qingyun Pavilion, Lishan Tracing the Source and other Shun culture attractions have been built one after another, forming a Shun culture tour line with the cultural characteristics of Quancheng, composed of ten Shun culture attractions, and has become a tourist attraction integrating history, culture, and scenery, with complete functions, large scale, and loved and welcomed by tourists. In general, the Qianfo Mountain Scenic Area not only has a long history and rich cultural heritage, but also beautiful natural landscapes and unique folk customs. It is not only a good place for Jinan citizens to relax and exercise, but also an ideal place for domestic and foreign tourists to understand Jinan and experience Quancheng culture.
