Panda Treasure Hunt: A few things you must know about the parent-child trip to the Giant Panda Base

Entering from the South Gate of the Chengdu Giant Panda Base, the main goal is to see Huahua. After queuing, if there is still energy and time (which is hard to have, usually a choice has to be made), then visit the surrounding area of the West Garden, which is relatively new; entering from the West Gate to the New Garden, if you are not exclusively devoted to Huahua and treat all pandas equally, it is recommended to mainly visit the New Garden, with newer facilities, better environment, and more pandas. Many people recommend visiting the Sun Delivery Room and Moon Delivery Room to see panda cubs, but in most cases, you can only see middle-aged panda mothers who are mostly lazily sleeping. After seeing enough of the giant pandas, the red pandas become very cute, and the Red Panda Pavilion does not require queuing. The more lively red pandas also deserve our affection. Along the way, many knowledge signs are also very worthwhile for children to flip through and read, such as remembering the Grey-breasted Partridge whose call is 'landlady', one of the prototypes of the Angry Birds, the Northern Cardinal, and many interesting animal science facts. Taking children is highly recommended to visit the Giant Panda Museum at the entrance of the South Gate, which can be entered for free with a reservation on the same day (closed on Mondays). Many exhibition halls have small interactive projects, which are very fun. The 3D cinema and dome cinema have a limit on the number of people and require advance reservation. From personal experience, it is possible to visit and reserve the 3D cinema on the spot, but we didn't get a spot for the dome cinema, so it is recommended to reserve in advance and pay attention to the film times to plan the visit sequence. Souvenirs: Pandas are everywhere in Chengdu, but perhaps because the atmosphere is right, the panda cultural and creative products at the Giant Panda Base feel cuter, and the prices are not more expensive than those in the shops on Chunxi Road or Kuanzhai Alley. Within a few hundred meters of the entrance, there are also vendors selling panda plush toys. Personally, I feel that there is more variety and better prices in the morning; it's relatively not worth it after a full afternoon visit, but it's hard to know how much children will buy inside the park, so the feasibility of buying in advance is not high. Transportation: There are panda bus lines from many places in the city, but in fact, a taxi from the city only costs around 30 yuan. It is recommended to take a taxi to save a bit of energy, as every bit counts, especially since the whole base is really too big.
