Fairy Lake, Xianhu Botanical Park

Fairy Lake or Xianhu gardens is a large botanical park located in Yantian district of Shenzhen, to get there you should take the subway to Xianhu road and walk for about 5 minutes to get to the entrance. Alternatively you could take a 20 min shuttle bus or taxi from Luohu. It costs 10RMB per person for entry which is really cheap for what you get access to. The park is primarily a large road and walking trail filled with different species of plants, most of the trees and flowers have labels telling you their scientific names which is really cool. If you dont want to walk all the way around the park (probably takes 1.5 hours) you can take a bus to the interesting points. I would suggest the bus if you travel here during hot summer months as it can get particularly humid and sweaty here. There are several points of interest around the park, the first of which is the main central lake, with a small rocky beach area and a few small rivers, they sometimes have boats on the lake. Nearby are some trees planted by famous Chinese leaders. There are several small gardens like aquatic plants, bonsai garden (currently closed), fossil forest, pagoda, temple and cactus garden. The cacti are particularly impressive and i highly recommend visiting.
