【Kyoto·Eikan-do·Zenrin-ji·Night Light Version·2023】

Eikan-do is most famous for its gorgeous autumn leaves. When lit up at night, the scenery becomes even more dreamy and magnificent. Although a large number of tourists will flock in autumn, the temple itself is actually worth visiting all year round. 【Location】Eikan-do is located on the south side of the Philosophy Path in the Central Higashiyama District. The temple covers a large area, and many buildings are connected by covered corridors. 【Temple Origin】 Eikan-do was a gift from a nobleman to a Buddhist monk during the Heian period (794-1185). Eikan-do has three other names: Zenrin-ji, Shōjūraigo-san, and Muryōju-in. 【Transportation】 Take the subway from Kyoto Station, and you can reach Eikan-do after a short walk from the station. Take the Karasuma Line from Kyoto Station to Karasuma Oike Station, then transfer to the Tozai Line towards Rokujizo, arrive at Keage Station, and walk for about 15 minutes to get there.
