Must-visit ancient cities in Catalonia in September

Nestled in the fertile plains of the Segre River, Lleida has historically been a melting pot of diverse cultures. Atop a hill in the city's historic district stands the famous old church, also known as the Catedral de la Seu Vera, a symbol of the capital. This fertile land and advantageous location first attracted the Iberian "ilergete" tribes in the 5th century BC, who founded the city, which later fell to the Romans as Ilerda.
