Lleida Seu Vella Cathedral Catedral de la Seu
Lleida's Old Cathedral, Catedral de la Seu Vella de Lleida
25002 Lleida
From Barcelona Sants train station, it takes three hours to take the suburban trains R3, R13, and R14, or one hour by high-speed train to reach Lleida. Spain has now launched a policy of free rides on suburban trains. For a deposit of 20 euros, you can buy a train ticket and ride the suburban trains from Barcelona to Lleida an unlimited number of times, which includes the R3, R13, and R14 trains. If you ride the train 16 times, you can also get back the 20 euro deposit. Although the three-hour travel time is a bit long, compared to the normal fare of 30 euros, this is a good choice if there is no urgent matter.
The former Cathedral of Lleida (Catalan: Catedral de la Seu Vella de Lleida) is located in Lleida, Spain. It is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lleida and the oldest church in the province of Lleida. It is also the only church in Catalonia that combines Romanesque and Gothic architecture.
In 1203, a person named Pere de Coma designed and directed the construction of the earliest building of the cathedral. Since then, the construction of the church has continued throughout the reign of King Jaime I, and the architectural style of that time has been preserved to some extent in today's Seville Cathedral. The construction of the cathedral was finally completed in 1431.
In 1707, the city of Lleida was occupied by Philip V and the church was used as a barracks. In 1918, the church was listed as a national historical monument and was restored in 1950. The church combines Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles, but has not been influenced by Islamic architecture. It is rectangular in shape, like a Latin cross. The most striking feature of the church is the octagonal tower, with a base diameter of 12.65 meters, a top diameter of 9.62 meters, a height of 60 meters, and 238 steps. The installed clock is in the international Gothic style of the 15th century and is very distinctive.
The cloister of this church is also impressive, located in front of the church door, it is known for its rare exhibitions and huge scale, and can be said to be one of the largest cloisters in Europe, with 17 gorgeous Gothic windows, each with its own unique features, giving people a bright feeling.
For a ticket price of 5 euros, you can enter the interior of the cathedral for a visit, climb the tower with 236 steps to the top, overlook the entire small city of Lleida, and look for your own home or hotel from above. You can also see the direction of the Segre River, enjoy the view from a high place, and feel refreshed and happy!
Especially at night under the lights or in the reflection of the evening sunset, the cathedral presents an image as if it were possessed by golden light.

Sagrada Familia Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
What does Sagrada Familia mean?
✨Gaudi never got to see it finished during his lifetime, but you might.
🏯Sagrada Familia, Barcelona's second-highest tower was formally inaugurated on Wednesday, with the illumination of the massive 5.5-ton star that shines at the top. Construction on this holy masterpiece has been ongoing since 1882, which was supposed to be completed by 2026, but the COVID-19 epidemic prompted the consortium to revise their plans.
⛪️Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi, who designed Sagrada Familia, meant to create a "Bible made of stone," with many cryptical symbols mirrored in its buildings, sculptures, and ornamentation. 🌈
💗Rome was not constructed in a day, and neither was Sagrada Familia. The Star was eventually lighted after 139 years.

Bacqueria Ski Slopes
#fallishere Baqueira ski slopes in Spain proved to be a hidden gem, and I'm genuinely thrilled to have stumbled upon this lesser-known skiing paradise. The allure of Baqueira lies in its understated charm and the fact that it remains somewhat off the beaten path, making it an ideal retreat for those in the know.
One of the standout features is the affordability. In comparison to ski resorts in France and Italy, Baqueira offers a fantastic skiing experience without breaking the bank. This financial accessibility enhances the overall appeal and makes it a practical choice for those seeking a great winter getaway without the hefty price tag.
What sets Baqueira apart is its lack of crowds. Unlike the bustling slopes in more popular destinations, Baqueira provides a tranquil and more intimate skiing experience. The absence of long lines and crowded runs allows for a more enjoyable time on the slopes, making every run a true pleasure.
In conclusion, Baqueira ski slopes are a well-kept secret for those who appreciate the combination of affordability and a serene skiing atmosphere. If you're in search of a hidden sweet spot that delivers both value and tranquility, Baqueira is a must-visit destination that deserves its place on the skiing map.
Baqueira Beret Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Spain’s most stunning ski resort
Located in Vall d’Aran, a very unique valley in the northwest of Catalonia, caressing the border with France, Baqueira Beret is a perfect ski adventure.
The resort is the usual choice of famous Spanish celebrities, even the Royal family are seen skiing here.
It is not surprising, given the beautiful of the scenery, the long ski runs, the variety of difficulties in the tracks and the quality of the snow.
Hundreds of kilometers distributed in three areas: Bonaigua, Baqueira and Beret (from east to west). It is totally possible to spend one entire day skiing from one to the other, never repeating a run or a ski lift.
As for accommodations there are quite a few options in Baqueira town, however these are usually quite expensive during ski season. Just a few kilometers further, you could also choose to book a hotel in Vielha, the largest town in the area, with more affordable options.
Ski pass in Baqueira usually starts at about 50€ per person per day, allowing you for access to all the areas and ski lifts.

Spain’s most stunning ski resort
Baqueira Beret is one of Spain’s most beautiful ski resorts. Located in Vall d’Aran, northwestern Catalonia region, in the heart of the Pyrenees mountains between Spain and France.
From Barcelona you can reach the valley in about 3’5 hours drive, and despite the relatively long commute is is definitely worth it.
Baqueira Beret is actually 3 ski resorts: Bonaigua, Baqueira and Beret. With connecting ski lifts and ski runs that can lead your way from one to the other.
It is Spain’s largest resort and you could easily spend the whole day going from one point to another without running the same slope twice or sitting in the same ski lift more than once.
Plenty of choices here to be enjoyed by skiers from all levels: pro and beginners alike.
If you haven’t tried it yet, definitely you should visit Baqueira Beret in Spain.

Hotel Blu Aran Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Cozy hotel with great views over Vielha
Hotel Blu Aran is located on a slightly higher ground in the town of Vielha, Vall d’Aran, which provides for a great viewpoint over the town and valley.
Surrounded by the high peaks of the Pyrenees mountains Vall d’Aran is a stunning wonderland, specially in winter when the snow covers the mountain tops. And this beauty can be greatly enjoyed from the balcony rooms of Hotel Blu Aran.
We stayed here at the beginning of December to enjoy the opening of the ski season in nearby Baqueira Beret ski resort and we could not be happier with our choice.
Reasonably priced, specially when compared to the hotel prices in Baqueira, and still just a short 20 minutes car drive from the ski slopes.
Breakfast was also of great quality, with plenty of choice catering the western palate: toasts, jam, orange juice, coffee, ham and cheese, pastries and freshly cooked tortilla de patatas.
Hotel Blu Aran is definitely a good choice whether enjoying Vall d’Aran in winter or any other time.
