Nanjing | It's a secret passage, it's the Ming city wall, it's the best spot to view Zijin Mountain

Speaking of the Nanjing city wall, most notes recommend Zhonghua Gate, Jiefang Gate, and Xuanwu Gate. But today, I recommend the section at Fugui Mountain, which is the shortest distance, has the lowest ticket price, and the fewest people, yet it offers the best scenery. Without exaggeration, this is one of the best viewing platforms in all of Nanjing to appreciate Zijin Mountain. The most unique feature here is that the entrance to the wall is an air-raid shelter, and climbing up the stairs, you can see a defense fortification built during the Republic of China era, with dim top lights, worn steps, and brick walls carved with text, as if you've traveled back decades. Once you ascend the city wall, this stretch is about 500 meters, but you'll find the 5 yuan ticket is truly worth it—the place is uncrowded, and the scenery is superb. Looking west, you can see the 600-year-old city wall and the modern Zifeng Tower in the same frame; to the north is Zijin Mountain, from where you can overlook the entire Pipa Lake. Buy a cup of coffee, stand on the city wall, enjoy the breeze and the view, and you won't be disappointed.
