#Osaka Itinerary The castle tower was originally built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1583 as the core military watchtower and symbol of power in Osaka Castle. It has experienced destruction and reconstruction during wars, and the existing building is the third-generation castle tower rebuilt with reinforced concrete in 1931. Today, its interior has been transformed into a museum to showcase the history of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Osaka Castle. The castle tower is known as one of the "Three Great Castles of Japan" along with Nagoya Castle and Kumamoto Castle, and is now a special historical site of Japan. The castle tower has white walls and green tiles on the outside, and the eaves are decorated with gold-foil tigers and kinsha (a mythical beast with a dragon head and a fish body), making it look magnificent. It has a total of 8 floors and is about 55 meters high. The top floor is a 360-degree observation deck where visitors can have a panoramic view of Osaka city. In addition, a time capsule was buried in the park in 1971, scheduled to be opened in 6970. It contains interesting objects that reflect the present time. The castle tower is open from 09:00 to 18:00 all year round, and is illuminated at night from sunset to 23:00 (exterior lights only, no entry).
