ASHLYN WATERS

Second visit to Quzhou | Immerse yourself in this retro treasure

My weekends are mostly spent wandering around the Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas near Shanghai, but I rarely come to Quzhou, Zhejiang, because it takes nearly 5 hours to drive, which is a bit far. However, taking the high-speed train is actually more convenient! It takes just over 2 hours to get there, and last week we had a leisurely 48 hours without the need for special forces or rushing! 🏘️ Located in the Confucian cultural core area of Shuitingmen in Kecheng District, Quzhou, it is the district with the most concentrated traditional architectural style and the richest historical and cultural heritage in Quzhou. On the basis of retaining the 'Three Streets and Seven Alleys', it has been transformed into an emerging tourist area. Compared to those crowded commercial ancient towns, this place is fashionable yet not commercial. Walking on the cobblestone roads, you can still feel the influence of history. 🏘️ The landmark buildings within Shuitingmen include the Xisheng Building, one of Quzhou's nine great towers, a newly built Western-style bell tower, and the oldest Tianwang Pagoda in Quzhou. To check in at all three buildings, we booked accommodation within Shuitingmen, which was really great‼️ 🌟 Quzhou Ruby Sugar Treasure Hotel 📍 No. 22, Xiaying Street, Kecheng District, inside Shuitingmen Scenic Area 🏨 The hotel is located within the scenic area and has an excellent geographical location. There is an open terrace on the third floor, where you can see the Tianwang Pagoda, the bell tower, and the Xisheng Building at the same time, especially during the evening blue hour when the buildings are lit up, it's truly beautiful! 🍹 The entire indoor public area is also created with a retro atmosphere, with old-fashioned bicycles, suitcases, and wall posters... all giving a sense of traveling back in time. 🛏️ The rooms are not very large, but simple and clean, and are equipped with my favorite high-quality sound system. The bedding is also very comfortable, and we spent most of our time either listening to music in the room or watching the scenery on the third-floor terrace. 🍴 The hotel's own restaurant serves mostly Western-style dishes, as well as Chinese cuisine, and the breakfast variety is quite rich and tasty. There are also many restaurants and snacks within the Shuitingmen scenic area.
