At the entrance to the city, the first thing that greets you is the arched stone bridge, the Alcantara Bridge, that crosses the Tagus River. After crossing the river and climbing the hill, you enter the medieval castle walls, and you are greeted by narrow, labyrinthine alleyways, red-roofed views, magnificent cathedrals, and Gothic architecture. Here are some of the most notable sights: •Toledo Cathedral: The epitome of Spanish Gothic architecture, featuring El Greco's masterpieces •Alcazar: A fortress on a hill and now a military museum •Ponte San Martin: A photogenic spot with a panoramic view of the western side of Toledo •El Greco Museum: A space to experience El Greco's artistic world •Plaza de Zocodover: The central square where travelers and locals gather •Jewish Quarter and Monastery of San Juan: A quiet area where history and religion meet Toledo is a day trip, but it is recommended to stay for a day to see the entire city turn red at sunset.
