National Monument

The San Martin Bridge is a medieval bridge across the river Tagus, which was constructed in the late 14th century to provide access to the old town from the west, after the first was destroyed. The bridge features five arches, with the largest in the middle having a span of 40 metres and 27 meters high. There are two fortified towers on the bridge, one at each end. These towers are hexagonal in shape and are designed to prevent access by force. The San Martin Bridge was declared a National Monument by the Spanish government in 1921. Stroll across this medieval bridge, which spans the Tagis river and provides fantastic views of the city of Toledo
