Vientiane's That Luang Stupa | Shining symbol of Laos

Laos' capital Vientiane, if there is one reason that cannot be missed, it must be the glittering That Luang stupa. Talat Sao, meaning "royal tower" in Lao language, was built by King Setthathirath of Lan Xang on the basis of a small tower in 1566, gradually forming today's scale. It was this king who moved the capital from Luang Prabang to Vientiane, and now his statue stands prominently in the square at the main entrance of Talat Sao. Talat Sao has also witnessed the glory and decline of Vientiane and this country. The Ta Luan Pagoda consists of one main tower and 30 small Buddha towers, with three layers of tower base representing the three realms in Buddhism. There are four worship pavilions built around it. The main tower stands on a semi-circular pedestal, surrounded by 24 large lotus petal decorations. The tower top is cone-shaped and covered with gold foil. It is said that the Buddha's relics are buried under the tower. Both in terms of status and appearance, the Ta Luan Pagoda can be compared to the great golden pagoda in Myanmar, leaving a lasting impression on people. Don't just go to That Luang, take a walk around the periphery, and your eyes will not miss the golden light. You can see beautiful temples, monks' residences, the huge reclining Buddha, and the Laotian people taking photos with That Luang as the background, dressed in traditional costumes and with props full of character. It can be said that there are many gains! Every mid-November, the Tak Bat ceremony is the most solemn and grand religious festival in Laos. Monks and believers flock to worship Buddha and pray for good luck.
