There are 2 tunnels, 1 is longer than the other which is why they called it a “ mother and son tunnel “. It has a bullet stain left from world war 2 on the wall of the tunnel from the entrance. There is not too many tourists here and you can spend around 40 minutes for a nice and relaxing walk. It’s a great experience with harmony atmosphere. I sure will visit here more frequently to relax and meditate to recharge. It is the best place to slow down and breathe again. 🚉 Qiding Station: A secret platform between blue trains and mountains and seas Qiding Station, hidden between mountains and seas, is an unmanned station of Taiwan Railways. Although it is small in scale, it is full of old-fashioned romance. Walking out of the station exit is the classic long staircase. Walking to the platform at the top of the stairs, the entire railway and platform are in full view. The sky is blue, the sea breeze is blowing, and the station is quiet. This place is like a scene from a Japanese drama. I stood on the platform and watched the train leave, feeling an indescribable sadness and calmness in my heart. 🌳 Mother-child tunnel: a secret passage into the forest Walk for about 10 minutes from Qiding Station and you will enter a brick-paved pedestrian path. There are dense woods and vines on both sides, and the sun casts mottled light and shadows between the tree gaps, which looks like an animation scene. As you walk, you will come to the legendary mother-child tunnel. Standing in the middle of the two tunnels, the sun shines in from the exit, and the whole picture is quiet and dreamy. Perfect ambience for camping and sightseeing 🥰

I first learned about the Zimu Tunnel because of the Taiwanese indie band Hello Nico. This location was featured in the music video for their famous single 'What Next.' The video uses a continuous shot technique, starting from the wooden stairs to the tunnel entrance, making me feel like I'm part of the MV. However, more people visit this place because they think the Qiding Zimu Tunnel resembles the tunnel in 'Spirited Away.' Do you feel the same? Besides the tunnel, don't forget to check out the observation deck! It's just a three-minute walk from the station and offers a great view of passing trains and distant wind turbines. At first glance, these turbines seem to float on the sea, giving a magical feel! Additionally, the Qiding Zimu Tunnel has its own observation deck where you can see the scenery of Xiangshan and Hsinchu.
