[Vatican🇻🇦] A day tracing beautiful history🤍
Recently, the Vatican has become a hot topic due to the election called the conclave to select the new pope.
It is the center of a religion with a long history and is a very sacred place.
Here is a plan for strolling around the Vatican! !
①St. Peter's Basilica (3rd to 7th photos)
St. Peter's Basilica is the most famous and prominent tourist spot in the Vatican.
The moment you enter the Vatican, the basilica welcomes you with a majestic atmosphere.
It is about 136 meters tall and was built over a long period of about 120 years.
You can visit the basilica for free.
However, since it is a popular spot, there is a long line and it takes quite a while to enter, so we recommend going early!
The interior is very luxurious and artistic with intricate patterns even on the ceiling.
There are also several historic sculptures, such as Michelangelo's Pieta, which you may have seen in your history textbooks.
The large light jewel-like object at the back of the basilica seemed to represent the eye of God.
A must-see for anyone who comes to the Vatican.
② St. Peter's Basilica Cupola (photos 1 and 2)
Among the many attractions, the Cupola of St. Peter's Basilica is highly recommended.
It is a circular dome designed by Michelangelo, and you can take the elevator or stairs to the top to enjoy a beautiful view of the Vatican and Rome.
This cupola is a paid area, and the price varies depending on whether you take the elevator or the stairs.
The 360-degree panorama of the Vatican and Rome seen from the cupola is a masterpiece.
The historic cityscape, with its orange and yellow tones, is very beautiful.
When I visited, it had just rained, and I was able to see a big rainbow from the cupola!! 🌈
③ St. Peter's Square (photos 6 and 7)
A large circular square in front of the basilica, in the center of the Vatican.
It is a colonnade, and many statues are lined up on top of it, creating a very sacred atmosphere.
This is where believers gathered to watch the conclave.
④ Yellow mailbox in the Vatican (8th photo)
There was a cute yellow mailbox in the Vatican.
It's so cute that I couldn't help but take a picture lol
It's quiet, so please look for it.
Venice, the smallest city in the world, is full of charm in its small area.
If you visit Rome, please visit it as a set.
