Exquisite location with such friendly staff that stand at the ready to help and cater to every whim. Booking a regular room is recommended as the larger room has a door which borders the main guest area. As such, it is extremely noisy. This room also looks out on the main patio with no inner curtains with the result that there’s no privacy. A regular room offers the same level of comfort, but with added privacy on the deck area and its further away from the main guest area which offers peace and quiet. All rooms look out onto a beautiful valley with proverbial four poster beds shaped as elephant tusks. The only negative were the old, lumpy pillows, which need urgent replacement. The chef cooks traditional African meals which were delicious, but for this type of venue, needs perhaps a bit more finesse in terms of having better options for a continental breakfast and enquiring with guests as to how they would prefer their meat cooked beforehand. A word of warning to coffee lovers, there’s only instant coffee, so better go and enjoy the hospitality armed with your own!

the Location was great and the restaurant staff were friendly and provided us good service, which is unfortunately the two positive parts of our stay. when we arrive, the reception experience was very poor. No Information was given about the lodge or breakfast until I asked, and we were not even accompanied to our room. The condition of the room was disappointing. The shower and floors were dirty to the point where you could not shower without wearing flip flops. Housekeeping was also below standard. During our 2-night stay, the room was not properly cleaned, the bins were not emptied, dishes were not washed properly and both the bathroom and floors remained dirty. Only the beds were made. This was a very disappointing experience.

We celebrated our 2-years anniversary at Sausage Tree and we truly enjoyed every bits of it from all the thrills of game drives, to connecting with the nature, to enjoying the peace and breeze, to learn about South Africa’s culture, to making new friends and to being pampered very well by their fantastic hospitality! So lucky of us to catch all Big 5 on the morning of our anniversary and with an Elephant appearing right in front of my doorstep at night! It makes the whole trip so much memorable! This was the first stop of our trip to South Africa and I still miss it in retrospect. It really exceeded expectations to meet such a hotel in Kruger. At first, I felt that the hotel pictures were very good. I didn't expect the location to be very good. I often saw small animals walking slowly outside the fence. The experience was very special. (Comfortable forgot to take more photos hahaha) Breakfast and dinner are delicious, the food is attentive, completely unfunctory. The staff is also very friendly and sincere, making people feel taken care of rather than served. The owner of the hotel gave us a lot of practical and pertinent suggestions, which helped us a lot. The overall price is also very reasonable and the price is very high. This is a place that people would like to go back to, highly recommended!!!

The hotel has beautiful grounds and super friendly staff, especially in the restaurant. Stayed in an executive room which was clean with a four poster bed. The AC in winter time was a welcome addition and the fact that it was switched on before I checked in was thoughtful. In general, these rooms could do with a bit of general maintenance - ceilings look old and worn and it was really difficult to open and close the door. Breakfast catered to all tastes. For a stay in Modimolle, Shangri-La is a good choice.

You can experience the best service. You can prepare airport transfers, activities reservations, and meals. I had a fever on the second day of my stay and couldn't go to the safari I was planning, but Annie prepared breakfast and looked for a safari that I could book from the afternoon 🥹 The cottage is highly probable to meet animals, but I recommend the lodge near the reception. You can hear the hyena cry at night, so it's safer to move as little as possible when you go to eat. The lodge we stayed in is a type with a shower outside so it may be a bit cold in winter, but we were not particularly problematic. The room was clean and there were zebras and giraffes on the roadside when I went out during the day. It takes about 40 minutes by car from the airport to here. The road is not paved, so if you are easy to get drunk, bring your medicine.

This is the perfect place for nature lovers who also want real comfort and luxury. The lodge is exquisitely decorated and it was a pleasure to sit with a coffee and watch bush bucks, warthogs, kudu and all types of birds come into the garden. Walking around the lodge I came close to giraffes, zebras and more. It was breathtaking. I stayed for 2 blissful nights and enjoyed delicious home cooked meals, a wonderfully comfortable bed and hot baths each day. I hope to come back in future!

This hotel exceeded all our expectations in terms of quality, luxury and service. The hotel is a short drive from the local airport and is perfect for safari. We used it as a base to visit different sections of KNP. We really enjoyed the stay and would love to come back. The facilities at the hotel are excellent and very comfortable. Highly recommended.

Lovely bed and breakfast. The service was fantastic. The staff were kind, helpful and extremely friendly. The room was good too, however the shower in our room wasn’t so great and there aren’t any ironing services. There is an ironing board and iron available if necessary though. Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay, would highly recommend to others.

Everything was top-notch. We received a very warm welcome, and the grounds were beautiful and well-maintained. The rooms were cozy and had everything we needed. Tea, coffee, and water were available in unlimited supply throughout our stay. Two safaris were included in the room rate. Our guide (Sidney) did his best to show us the diverse wildlife of South Africa. Special thanks to the chefs – everything was delicious and cooked with passion, especially the evening barbecue. We also want to give a big shout-out to the manager who greeted us; she was always ready to help with our requests and resolve any issues. We would gladly return to you again because you gave us an unforgettable experience!
