The Citadel of Cairo or Citadel of Saladin (Arabic: قلعة صلاح الدين, romanized: Qalaʿat Salāḥ ad-Dīn) is a medieval Islamic-era fortification in Cairo, Egypt, built by Salah ad-Din (Saladin) and further developed by subsequent Egyptian rulers. It was the seat of government in Egypt and the residence of its rulers for nearly 700 years from the 13th to the 19th centuries. Its location on a promontory of the Mokattam hills near the center of Cairo commands a strategic position overlooking the city and dominating its skyline. When it was constructed it was among the most impressive and ambitious military fortification projects of its time. It is now a preserved historic site, including mosques and museums.

Saladin Castle is an ancient castle in Cairo with a history of more than 1,000 years. It is located on a hillside and overlooks Cairo. He belongs to the relics of the Ottoman Turkish Empire, with a distinct castle style of that era, and he is also an iconic building in Cairo, worth a visit.

Saladin Castle is very famous in Cairo. But the tour guide didn't arrange us to visit it specially. He just took a long view from the bus. The tour guide just gave a brief introduction. The castle is very spectacular and has a history of several hundred years, but it is much inferior to other scenic spots which have a history of several thousand years.
