The castle was originally a private manor house, but the king later exchanged it for a forest monastery in order to please the queen, unlike most of Europe's cold-coloured castles. It was built with red bricks and green roofs and the three main buildings of the castle are churches, castles, and palaces. They are arranged on three sides in a square. The Queen's Corridor, which is connected to the three main buildings, was later rebuilt for the Queen. Despite many wars and fires, it was fortunate to have been rebuilt and built many times.
