Matsumoto Castle, also known as the "Crow Castle," is a stunning architectural masterpiece located in Matsumoto City, Japan. Adult ticket can be bought on site for 700JPY but be prepared to queue outside to enter. It took about an hour and a half to wait in the queue and walk through the castle. There are free tour guides available at the entry to the site who can talk you through the castle's history and architecture.Built in the 16th century, Matsumoto Castle is the oldest well-preserved castle in Japan with a unique black and white exterior. The castle features several impressive architectural elements which can be viewed from the inside if you are prepared to climb some narrow and steep steps. Shoes must be removed before entering and carried in a provided bag until you exit the castle. Visitors can explore the castle's many rooms across all six floors which offer stunning views of the surrounding area.During your visit inside the castle, you can learn about the castle's role in Japanese history and culture through exhibits and artifacts on display throughout the castle which include samurai armour and weapons. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
