It is a very good attraction. Come in the summer, queue for about 10 minutes to enter the scenic spot. Riding a camel has to queue, about 1 hour. You can also climb Mingsha Mountain, take pictures and see the scenery. In the Crescent Spring at night, the lights are on, very beautiful.

Dunhuang Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring Scenic Area is located five kilometers south of Dunhuang City. It has been known for its coexistence with mountain springs and the desert wonders of symbiosis of sand and water for thousands of years. It is known as one of the best scenery outside the sea. ​ Today, there are about 30,000 people entering Mingsha Mountain! Many people ride camels, but it looks like they are tired and see camels walking hard, I didn't join them.

Dunhuang Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring Scenic Area (Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring), located 5 kilometers south of the city of Dunhuang City, Jiuquan City, Gansu Province, covers an area of 76.82 square kilometers, and the core scenic area is defined as 12.79 square kilometers. It is known as "one of the best scenery outside the plug". Mingsha Shandong from Mogao Grottoes, west to the Danghekou, east and west stretching 40 kilometers, north and south width about 20 kilometers, the main peak altitude of 1715 meters. The mountain is composed of red, yellow, green, black, white, five-color fine sand accumulation; Crescent Spring is located in the surrounding of Mingsha Mountain, because the shape is like a crescent moon. In 1994, Dunhuang Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring Scenic Area was designated as a key national scenic spot; in 2005, Dunhuang Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring Scenic Area was awarded the honorary title of "one of the five most beautiful deserts in China"; In 2015, Dunhuang Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring Scenic Area was awarded the national AAAAA-level tourist attraction and Dunhuang World Geopark in China.

听说晚上看日落的游人挤爆鸣沙山，打车回酒店都打不到，就临时改成早上起早游览鸣沙山，7点酒店出发到中门，鸣沙山买学生票特别不方便要到窗口排队，早上窗口也没全开，每个队伍都有团队导游，一摞一摞地换票，排队30分钟，7:30进了鸣沙山，穿上门口小店买的10元的防沙脚套（5/10/15三种），背上10元的滑沙半天（事实证明浪费了，脚印多的坡上根本滑不起来，没有脚印的沙山要么围起来收费滑沙40元，要么围起来不让上去），进入园内就有浏览车或者骑骆驼100元45分钟，浏览车根本不需要，走走很快到月牙泉，10:30左右就玩好了

鸣沙山，在汉代的时候被称为神沙山、沙角山，魏晋时始称鸣沙山。最早在东汉辛氏《三秦记》中有“河西有沙角山，峰崿危峻，逾于石山，其沙粒粗色黄，有如乾糒……人欲登峰，必步下入穴，即有鼓角之声，震动人足”的记载。
